Bumping this specifically for the enjoyment of DC Sniper. The Tribunal's been a pretty active topic in the forum recently, but has been sprawled over three threads and because of that the arguments have been very circular.

So now that has an outlet.

I don't really care. All I have to say left is that the Tribunal is abusive and to give light to the fact that most people don't deserve any kind of power.

I got an email a few days ago saying 8 people were punished, but I'm not sure what that was pulled from, they seem to take a while to happen.

You already knew this though. If somebody starts causing trouble on any forum/imageboard, do you:

1. Report and move on
2. Make an even bigger mess of it

This is exactly why report and ignore functions exist.

Since you visit 4chan, I'll use that as an example. In the first thread he put up in /q/ moot posted to just report the people spamming MLP threads where they don't belong. There was a sticky saying the same thing up in /b/ for a while after.
So yes, even there users are asked to report people causing trouble. Not feeding the trolls. Not giving people who want to cause trouble what they want. Working with the system to a common end instead of working against it and being caught in the crossfire. Why do some of those threads still happen? Because people ignore the systems meant to stop those problems, and instead just put more fuel on the fire.

This isn't a /v/ thread, bad greentext posts not going to fly so far in a discussion here.

I like. How long does each case usually take?

There's a boundry of 20 seconds before you can vote after you start a case, each case lasts roughly 30 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on why the person was reported. If the reported party was spamming the chat with hail satan, building 6 boots and was 0/60, then it would be a clear report, but don't be so quick to judge.
As for the responding to toxic comments and negativity, If I'm playing by myself, I make the chat as small as possible. Most of the time, nobody has anything important to say anyway besides "noob jungler, wtf help bot/mid/top" or "dum idgit, u build THIS on Champion X, not that!" If someone is getting flamed for no reason, I'll kindly say calm down. That's it.

I'm not sure if I'm either: a) lenient, b) got mild cases or c) saw that his/her allies were more assholey than the case itself. Either way, I went with pardon on 8, and punish on 7. One of them reported this case for intentionally feeding when he/she had the second best K/D. I think people abuse the report button, and need to toughen up a little bit. Even though there was one word that if used that would guarantee them a punish vote.

I thought they removed that with the Honor update?

They might have. I don't really bother checking the updates.
