A lot of champions are like that, though. Need the early kills to be truly effective in late game team fights.

Disabling Kat is easier said than done when chaos occurs in a team fight. Most Kats aren't stupid enough to rush in first, they wait things out a bit then shunpo/flash in and ult. I do this method with Kennen at times, myself, just to ensure that I'm not a major target of damaging ults and such, especially if I don't have the defense to keep up when I ult. If I know my team can distract them well enough, I'll give it a few seconds before jumping in, works out great in the long run.

In yesterday's games, Kat was really pushing back our Ezrael. All she has to do is get up her bouncing blades, use her buff skill, and aim for the champion, then shunpo back. Either that or farm up to all hell. She's decent in the laning phase, annoying in fact. All she needs to worry about is her CD, whereas most champions have a bar to make use of their skills. It's true that she has no CC, so some believe she's not as formidable, but still, she can annoy champions quite well. In that game, I played Malphite, and I would try to cancel her ult with mine whenever possible, but my ult takes time, she can get in a good few strikes with her ult beforehand. With Rammus, Mordekaiser, and Maokai leading the front, focusing her wasn't easy. And whilst she didn't often kill the Ez, she did force him to go back on more than one occasion, and ended up getting two levels ahead of him.

Ezreal's Q should actually go longer range than Kat's Q as well, and pushing someone back is a bad thing because if there's a jungler at a decent elo = free gank. Ezreal is just bad to not land a Q on her as she's moving forward to him; Ezreal should also win on trades vs Kat if they're trading, if they're trading Ezreal still should outrange her.

It's still pretty easy to save a CC for someone if you have a competent team. If I play a character with any CC, I specifically save them for Kat and make her worthless. It's pretty easy to tell when they're coming in, because if Kat waits too long her team will already be dead unless they were already going to own without her. But at my elo, Kat is never chosen for that same reason (easy to CC, other characters can do more damage and on more than 3 targets; you can just walk 2 steps back and not Kat's ult will stop hitting).

Don't get me wrong, I've carried hard and used to carry hard all the time on Kat. That isn't because she's a good character though but because the opponents are bad or I'm better than them. There are much better picks than Kat for laning AND team fights.

One side jungle while other side doesn't jungle pretty much = auto win lol. At my elo, there always junglers on both sides.

Kat is pretty much one of those champions where if you're team is already going to win then she shines, but if your team is going to lose she can't really carry versus a competent team.

That's a shame that you lost, like Chimaira said all your team really needed to do was stack MR but I can see why it would be a problem early game when they have a huge level advantage + ganks versus you guys no jungle.

Warwick is the most friendly to learn jungle with (and even after you know how to jungle, he's still one of the best (speedwise + ganks).

You pretty much want to eventually get all ASPD runes for most jungles (the faster you kill creeps, the faster they respawn and the more time you have to gank (and can gank earlier with your faster creep kills too).

Shaco is darn annoying too.
