Leeds United: Onwards&Upwards. |
![]() Can a new manager take leeds back to the top? Brought to you by Jeff Stelling ![]() Sunday 31st May Leeds United Sack Simon Grayson! Former manager Simon Grayson guided his team to the semi finals of the playoffs last season but this was deemed not good enough with the hard to please former Chelsea chairman Ken Bates gave the former Leeds player the chop after only 6 months in charge of the club. Grayson began his career at Leeds United in June 1988 as both a defender and a midfielder. However, he did not manage to make the big breakthrough at Leeds, playing just twice in four years. He signed for Leicester City in March 1992 and went on to make 229 appearances in five years. He will be disapointed not to have made a bigger impact at the club as manager after failing when he was a player. ![]() Mr Grayson was unavailable for comment today. Sky Sports News reporter Jeff Stelling caught up with Ken Bates; quote ![]() We're Coming To Get You "Big 4" This message was edited by chrisburns1 on Nov 15 2009. Looks good, your layout is ok, Though I would have the leading image centered for best effect. Also, images look way more professional if you add a border to them.
Otherwise, KUTGW. ------------------- ![]()

Fantastic. Looks much better centered and with borders. Just have to decide on a font size though and stick to it to keep a format to your updates.

![]() Wednesday, 7th July. Well this is a nice office and i am really glad of that as i hate messy shabby rooms they just bring the mood down and right now i'm in a good mood a triumphant mood you could say. With that performance out there they wont be able to walk all over me. If those journalist bastards want to slate me they will really need to team up and watch me round the clock. I've wanted to be a football manager for as long as i remember and no scummy journo is going to take that from me in any uncertain terms. I think that out there i gave the impression of an arrogant cocky bastard but to you know what? i want to be the best and in order to be the best you have to beat the best. if i want to walk the walk i have to talk the talk. thats my motivation and if a come across as being cocky its only because i want to be the best and i dont care how i get there. The latest football news with: ![]() Sunday 12th July New Leeds manager Chris Burns has made his first capture at the club with the aquisition of polish forward ebi smolarek on a free transfer. Jeff Stelling speaks to Burns about his new signing: JS: Are you pleased to have made this signing? CB: Well i wouldn't have signed him if i wasn't would i? Seriously though this lad will bag the goals that win us the league this season. JS: Do you think the wages you are paying smolarek compared with the rest of the squad will affect the morale of the other players? CB: Could you correct me if i'm wrong when i say that there are no better players than Ebi at this club. Am i wrong? JS: Well in my opinion 11 players make a team who they are but i also do agree that Smolarek would be probably be the first name on the team sheet for me. CB: He will be i assure you and that would explain his higher salary. Also i dont think that any of my players will be bothered by this anyway. JS: This marks your first foray into the transfer market, can we expect any more? CB: well i will be looking to sign 2 or 3 players with a further 2 or 3 players coming in on loan. JS: Okay. Thanks for your time Mr Burns. ![]() New Leeds Signing Smolarek grew up in the Netherlands, where his father played in the Eredivisie and later worked as a coach. "Ebi" went through the Feyenoord youth system and made it all the way to the first team. On 24 August 2007, Smolarek signed with Racing de Santander for a reported €4.8 million. On 29 August 2008, Racing loaned Smolarek to Bolton Wanderers for the season, with a view to signing him permanently. Smolarek's debut for his new club came as the team lost 3–1 to Arsenal on 20 September 2008. On 3 January 2009, Smolarek scored his first goal for Bolton in the FA Cup 3rd Round match away to Sunderland but at the end of the season the club decided not to make his loan permanent. On 10 August 2009 he was released by Racing. Despite some interest from Bundesliga clubs at the start of the 2009-10 season, he will now be looking to bring that spark back to his career by reigniting his Borussia Dortmund form. Reigniting the glory days* ![]() Monday 20th July, I made a further signing today with the capture of 31 year old scotsman Gavin Rae, i know of him from his time at Rangers as they are my boyhood team. I've spent just 500k on him and i firmly believe he can become a frim favourite with the fans. When he was at Rangers i thought he was a really good player but he was very unfortunate with injuries and never really got going. ![]() 500k Signing Tuesday 21st July, Next to come in to the squad were loan signings Issiah Osbourne who comes in from Aston Villa and should provide good cover for our midfield pairing of Michael Doyle and Gavin rae. Nacar Barazite who comes in from Arsenal and will be in the first team playing on the right. ![]() On loan from Arsenal Wednesday 22nd July, Another signing today with former Fulham youngster Elliot Omozusi coming in on a free transfer. He is a good addition to the squad and will go straight into the team and cement the right back position with ease. ![]() Free transfer Friday 24th july, I completed the deal i was most interested in all summer with the 1.1million signing of bosnia and Herz goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. This is another lad who will save the club points on his own as he is a very capable young goalkeeper who i have very big plans for. At Portsmouth he only managed 2 first team appearances but had a few loan spells. The 22 year old will be looking to get off to a flying start at Leeds and had this to say about his move. quote ![]() Believes leeds will get promoted All the latest news and reviews with: ![]() Wednesday 29th July 18:37, Email from Leeds United manager here to tell us that new signing Ebi Smolarek has damaged his spine and will therefore miss the first few months of the season. Jeff Stelling: Well this will be a massive blow to their preperations as Chris Burns had said that Ebi would be vital to the teams title challenge. Lets see how well Leeds do without him as no doubt he will be a big big loss. We're Coming To Get You "Big 4" -------------------

Friendly round up I am pleased with out overall performances during pre-season. I was particularly pleased with the 2-0 win over farsley, although a higher result would have been expected by out fans i was still happy as this was my first match with the club and we picked up a win. Infact i am thrilled with our performances as the teams who beat us were of much higher standard and although they had the higher standard of player i thought we should have won ofr at least got a draw out of our matches against fulham and stoke. As i felt we were the better team but as i say they had the better standard of player and their players had the better killer instinct to put the game to bed, the only downside was the 3-0 defeat to chelsea but i dont think that result proves anything because we were never going to challenge them anyway. ![]() Saturday 8th August, First competitive came today ladies and gentlemen and to be honest; wasn't the greatest. I mean being outplayed and getting hammered as a shows that the result was deserved, but no we had to go and completely outplay lowly Exeter only to be beaten. Not acceptable they are a team who have just been promoted to this league and we really should have hammered them. To have had 16 shots and only manage 3 on target kind of sums up the day we had though doesn't it? Fair play Exeter, you win this one but next time we come face to face i predict a riot. Monday 10th August, I've decided that i want my own backroom staff after all and i have instructed the chairman to get rid of the current staff; Richie Picton, Darren Mowbray, Daryl Pugh, Neil Thomson, Neil Redfearn, Harvey Sherman and paul perkins as soon as possible. Not to happy he was but he has agreed to give me the funds to bring in the neccesary replacements. Only assistant manager Glynn Snodin, goalie coach Andy Beasley, fitness coach Matt Pears and scouts Dave Harrison and Dave Williams survive the cull. ![]() Survives Cull ![]() Tuesday 11th August, League cup match today against crewe, will update soon. Well thats a relief, not had to wait to long for the first competitive win as we won 4-2 today. Jermaine Beckford was magnificent today picking up a deserved man of the match thanks to a hat-trick of goals and also had a hand in Neil Killkennys goal. Friday 14th August, I finally managed to bring my own backroom staff in today, coming in are; Gordon Cowans and Tony Mcandrew who come in from Aston Villa for a combined fee of 240k. Peter Farrell who joins from bolton for a fee of 28k and John Owens who was a free agent. Fellow free agents Steve Whitehall and Wayne Diesel come in as physios while Malcolm Shotton, Don Mackay, Pat Holland and Barry Whitbread come in as scouts. ![]() New Scout This message was edited by chrisburns1 on Nov 15 2009. -------------------
