AFC Liverpool - Going For The Big Time |
|
The other one is getting closed soon as I have made too many changes to my side etc etc. So a fresh attempt here
![]() AFC Liverpool Going For The Big Time! AFC Liverpool are a small Amateur football club in the North West Counties League Division One in the 10th Tier of English football. They were founded in 2008 and their first season was an impressive one, finishing 4th in the league, missing out on promotion to the Premier Division. In the same season they won the First Division Trophy, beating Padiham 1-0 in the final, adding to an empty trophy cabinet in just their first season. Their home stadium is Valerie Park, the very same as Prescot Cables a few divisions above them and drew against St. Helens Town in their first ever game. The Town also happen to be a division above them. They start their 2nd season in football in the same division, yet favourites for the title, an achievement that has been thrown upon local boy Sean Burns after Derek Goulding's surprise resignation after the clubs first season. Burns has taken a shine to AFC as they are basically Liverpool FC on a small-time basis. The AFC Liverpool board will expect nothing else other than a league win this season and a good performance in the cups surrounding them. Here is what the 30 year old manager had to say: Journalist: How do you feel about being appointed in the manager's hotseat at this small-time club? Sean Burns: I'm absolutely thrilled to be honest. I have been watching this club with great interest since they were founded last year and Derek Goulding's resignation came to a shock just as much as me. I'm just pleased to be filling such big boots. Journalist: With the sides incredible performace last season leaving the side favourites for the title, how do you think that could affect your side this season? Sean Burns: Well it will cause a lot of pressure on me and the staff as well as the players. The side are in good shape for the title though and have a few cracking players. Journalist: You touched upon the players there. Can we expect to see you delve into the market soon? Sean Burns: Well as I say the players should be good enough for this league but it doesn't mean I want to bring in my own backroom staff and players. We don't want to just win the league, we want to humiliate every team in there. Journalist: One final question Sean. How do you feel your reputation will affect the players performances. With a big manager in charge previously will they be phased with having an unknown manager in charge? Sean Burns: The players will be a bit bothered but most the manager's in this division are unknown so it shouldn't really affect them. We know we are by far the best team in the division and intend to show that this season. Journalist: Thanks for your time and good luck this season. Most of them will join and they make such a difference. I've been beating teams in the cup where the prediction has been that I haven't had a chance

re: AFC Liverpool - Going For The Big Time |
![]() AFC Liverpool Going For The Big Time! Pre-Season A time where the big teams try and boost their confidence by destroying smaller teams and a time the smaller teams are humiliated by the big boys, picking up a few grand along the way. It also gives fans a time to see how new players perform, how they look for the season and travel to places they normally wouldn't. We are focusing on AFC Liverpool, the side who finished 4th in their debut season of football. With Derek Goulding taking a surprise resignation and unkown Sean Burns stepping up to the plate, a few eyes will be glanced towards them. Pre-season is also a time when the players parade around in the clubs new kits, and AFC Liverpool were no different, with the clubs new boys modelling the new kits. ![]() ![]() ![]() Credit to Dec for the kits Results ![]() Burns hasn't let down on his word. He's brought in a new 22 players and a few more for good measure. The majority have came from the African country of Reunion on Amateur contracts and apparently are good enough to be playing 5 levels above where they are now according to manager Sean Burns. It was a good start for AFC LIverpool for pre-season. A good performance against Premiership side Bolton saw them lose a mere 2-0 with new signings Rudi Pounoussamy, Gregory Cady, Jim Ablancourt, Cedric Besson, Eric Farro, Yannick Ivoula, Jean-Phillippe Javary, Fabrice Mosa and Willy Robert starting, whilst Shaun Foster, Giovanni Fetissoi, Cedric Fraumens, Anthony Mendy, Patrick Vaz, Antoine Rasolofo and Hamed Sacko on the bench. Goals from Gavin McCann and Gary Cahill won the game. For the Esteghlal Giovanni Songoro, Hulien Hauguel, Steve Mason, Jonathan Chaul, Yohan Guichard and Michael Defty had joined the club while Steve Gilder was appointed the new assistant manager. A brace from Hamid Goudarzi and Rinaldo giving the Peruvian side victory. An expected defeat against Newell's was inevitable, with Mauro Formica, Rodrigo Medina and Horacio Bella giving them victory. Up next were the 2 matches they had the best chance in, with Huddersfield and Hibernian. It was a narrow defeat against Huddersfield, with an early Antony Kay goal giving them victory. A 9 day rest meant they had the best possible chance of victory. Although it wasn't victory in the end it was a thrilling encounter, with AFC Liverpool getting their first goal so far. Willy Robert gave AFC the lead before Derek Riordan levelled. Hamed Sacko gave AFC Liverpool the lead and then doubled it before half-time. Hibs came back into it in the second half and pulled one back almost instantly through Josh Rankin. Colin Nish and Derek Riordan scored with 20 minutes left leaving AFC LIverpool feeling rather down about a game that they had a stunning chance of victory. A very good pre-season campaign in the end and sure signs of AFC Liverpool marching on and winning the title this season. This message was edited by seanb2k6 on Nov 12 2009. re: AFC Liverpool - Going For The Big Time |
![]() AFC Liverpool Going For The Big Time August A time of month where you can almost smell the excitement and anticipation of the start of the new footballing season in many countries. Fans know who's fit to play in the opening game and how the new signings look. It was AFC Liverpool who had made the most changes, bringing in 28 mew faces, including a new assistant manager and manager. It wasn't a bad pre-season for AFC Liverpool, with them facing stronger sides in all 5 fixtures and with the opening game against Norton United and a clean bill of health, things were looking up. Results ![]() AFC Liverpool fans couldn't have predicted they'd make such a tremendous start to the season. A 5-0 thrashing of Norton United left many fans gobsmacked that the side had gelled together so quickly, although it could've been because the majority were now French. Goals from Fabrice Mosa(2), Eric Farro, Jean-Phillippe Javary and Jim Ablancourt gave AFC Liverpool fans something to shout about. Next up was Formby in the Liverpool Seniors Cup which saw AFC Liverpool run out 2-0 winners, with a Holmes own goal and a Fabrice Mosa free-kick scored after a mediocre first-half. Next up was Leek CSOB and after another poor, goalless first-half the introduction of Patrick Vaz proved to be instrumental, and the Reds went on to win the game 3-0, with Willy Robert, Fabrice Mosa and Yohan Guichard getting on the scoresheet. The final match of the month came against Eccleshall and AFC Liverpool were determined to keep up the 100% start to the season. After a first half of great domination AFC Liverpool went in 1-0 up at the break, despite the fact that it could've easily have been 3 or 4-0, although Willy Robert found his 2nd of the season and would've minded about the scoreline. Shortly after half-time Eccleshall dropped to 10 men, yet AFC Liverpool never upped their attacking domination and the game finished 2-0, Willy Robert getting on the scoresheet again. A fantastic month overall for AFC Liverpool, with 12 goals scored and 0 conceded. Fabrice Mosa had been the standout performer and will be an integral part of AFC Liverpool's success this season, with his free-kick ability crucial. He has struck up a great partnership between Willy Robert as they have managed a total of 7 goals in 4 between them. Despite 4 wins out of 4 it was no real competition. Opening day and a lot of nerves floating in the air. Fans are wondering whether this season will be their season and wondering how the new boys will gel with the lads from the last campaign. AFC Liverpool shown their fans they had nothing to worry about with a 5-0 walkover against Norton United. It was utter domination with the home side having a total of 18 shots on goal, hitting the target 11 times, while Pounoussamy was left to do nothing with Norton having just 3 shots with none hitting the target. The deadlock was broken within 2 minutes when Giovanni Songoro ran rings around the Norton defence before playing a ball neatly to Fabrice Mosa. Mosa turned his marker superbly and slotted into the near corner. The second came 10 minutes later, when a Yohan Guichard cross that looked like it was aimed towards Willy Robert found Eric Farro on the left wing instead. Farro took a touch in front of him before powering into the near post, leaving the 'keeper stranded. The 3rd came from a corner, when Farro's corner saw Mosa held back and the penalty was awarded. Mosa took responsibility and found the corner like a pro. 3-0 and less than 20 minutes had gone and it was 4-0 before the break, with Javary and Robert linking up beautifully. Javary played a ball over the top of the Norton defence and found Robert unmarked. He was quickly caught up and took the ball to the byline. Here he pulled the ball back to Jean-Phillippe Javary who was waiting on the edge of the area and the attacking midfielder drove the ball across the goalkeeper for 4-0. The game quitened down after the break, as 4-0 was game over, but it didn't stop AFC Liverpool grabbing a 5th. A Mosa free-kick was deflected out for a corner which was taken by Farro. His ball in was headed away by Doherty, but Ablancourt intercepted Wilson and fired home. 5-0 was a job well done and the AFC Liverpool camp left with big smiles on their faces. Table ![]() AFC Liverpool are dominating the league at the minute, taking 9 points from 9 and a goal difference of +10 and have already opened up a 3 point gap over Atherton Colls. They'll be looking to keep up this fine form into September and onto the rest of the season. This message was edited by seanb2k6 on Nov 13 2009. ------------------- | |

re: AFC Liverpool - Going For The Big Time |
![]() AFC Liverpool Going For The Big Time September After a cracking month for AFC LIverpool, recording 4 wins from 4, scoring an average of 3 goals a game and yet to concede, they were going into september in high spirits. Results ![]() Not the start to September AFC Liverpool had in mind, throwing away their 3 point lead over Atherton Colls. The thing that made the Atherton encounter so poor was the fact that they were down to 10 men within half an hour and the goal came after that, with Craig Knight becoming the first person of the season to score past AFC Liverpool. Next match was Atherton Colls, a chance to open up that 3 point lead over them, although it would be extending it to 6 should they not have had the recent mishap. The elade was extended to 3 points again over joint favourites Atherton Colls, with goals from giving them a 2-0 victory. Before the Atherton game the draw for the FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round was made and AFC Liverpool drew Lancing at home, which was to be their next game. They were without top scorer Fabrice Mosa for this game as his fantastic form had got him his first international cap for Madagascar, despite being 35. Mosa was to be replaced by Olivier Gatrin, a tall Target Man whose goal was to support the side in the air. The game saw pure dominance for AFC Liverpool and the game was over by half-time, with AFC Liverpool leading 6-0. Only 1 goal in the 2nd half but it extended the lead to 7-0, with Willy Robert, Jim Ablancourt and Yohan Guichard[/color capping braces while Olivier Gastrin got the other. The draw for the First Round was made days later, with AFC Liverpool set to play Dunkirk on the 3rd October. The final game of the month came against Stone Dominoes. Mosa was back in the starting line up and was determined to give Stone Dominoes the runaround. He did open the scoring early on, but it was through a penalty when defender Besson was tripped off a corner. In the end the goals came from Fabrice Mosa and Willy Robert, who capitalized on a goalie mistake while Mosa shown his free-kick ability once again. Just before the end of the month the draw for the North West Challenge Trophy was made with AFC Liverpool drawn against Eccleshall away on the 10th October. So overall an impressive month in one that started poorly and a further 12 goals to add to the collection, yet now with 1 conceded. Team Stats A new section to this. With a lot of goal going in and very few going out it looks like one of these will be needed to bring you up-to-date with all the latest team stats. Goals: By the end of last month it was Fabrice Mosa who was topping the goalscoring charts with 4 goals in all competitions. But now he has missed out on the 7 goal thrashing against Lancing there is a chance he won't be any more. Fabrice Mosa's great goalscoring record sees him topping the AFC Liverpool goalscoring charts, but is now joint with Willy Robert as they have both hit 7 goals. Defender Jim Ablancourt has been a surprise goalscorer this season, hitting 3 goals in 8 games from Central Defence. Assists: A lot of people have set up goals so far, but the leaders see Eric Farro, setting up 4 goals but leading in Willy Robert who has set up 6 goals in the matches he's played in and showing he's an all-round player. Best Performer: Once again it is Willy Robert leading in this, with an average performance of 7.79 so far this season. A great feat and showing no signs of letting up on this great form. It was a fantastic game to watch and I'm guessing a fantastic game to play in, if your not playing for Lancing. AFC Liverpool were missing their star striker who was on international duty, a surprising thing in these divisions. The score was opened after just 7 minutes, Olivier Gastrin turning on the ball and seeing Willy Robert running into space. A brilliantly weighted pass found Robert's feet and slid the ball past goalkeeper Edwards. 4 minutes later and it was 2-0, an Eric Farro corner boucing in between defenders Morrison and Robson. Jim Ablancourt was alert to it and found the ball and struck it on a first time volley from close range, into the top corner. It took just 2 minutes for the lead to become 3-0. Willy Robert trying to find a gap to shoot from, but instead returned the favour with a great through ball of his own. Gastrin took it on the turn and almost mimicked Robert's goal for 3-0. 6 minutes later the game looked dead and buried. Guichard found Javary who chipped it into the area for Robert. Robert took it on his feet and fired across goal only for Edwards to save it. Unfortunately for Lancing the ball fell to Guichard who was left to slide the ball into an empty net. It took a bit longer for the 5th to find the back of the net, but it did eventually come on the 36 minute mark. Farro's deep cross found Guichard at the back post. Yohan took it on his chest before being tackled by Robson, leaving the keeper going for a ball that was no longer going there. Guichard powered his way past Robson, over Edwards and left to score his 2nd open goal of the game. 6-0 4 minutes later and I could've sworn I seen the Lancing manager crying on the touchline. Farro's free-kick was played to Ablancourt on the edge of the area. The Centre-Back took a touch before rifling the ball into the top corner again. After half-time AFC Liverpool let up on Lancing a bit, but it didn't stop them getting a 7th. A long ball behind the Lancing defence from Right-Back Giovanni Songoro found Guichard running in. Guichard took it superbly and ran towards goal. Willy Robert was keeping up with him and in the end, about 15 yards from goal he chipped it neatly into the area, leaving Edwards with no chance as Robert nodded home. An emphatic and well deserved win from AFC Liverpool. Table ![]() It was a good month in the end by AFC Liverpool and by the time 1st October cam around they were top of the table by 4 points and with a game in hand over Ashton Town in 2nd. This has the possibility of taking them a maximum of 7 points clear, and should Cheadle win as well as AFC Liverpool, it's 5 points. Also into the next round of both competition's they've played in so far, winning well both times and with the FA Vase 1st Round the first game up in Octobert hey'll be determined to progress yet again.
