[Public Journal] Darknet: It Begins Again!

Background:

During the summer, I got really out of shape. I'd do nothing but play video games and go on Neoseeker. Ate pizza and never got active. Well I ended up hating it so I decided to start getting back in to shape during school. Work it in to my routine so I'll do it more often.


Goals:

Short term: Get to 220lbs
Long term: Get to 200lbs
Overall: Burn fat and fine tune my muscles


Diet:

Overall Rountine: I eat light on breakfast, lunch, and dinner and snack a lot inbetween. Keep eating to raise my metabolism but consume less calories.

Breakfast: It use to eat a bowl of Total but it ended up like I felt like puking from even thinking about eating it. Now I just eat some kind of Jimmy Dean's breakfast bowl. It's not the healthiest option but I couldn't stand Total anymore. Any ideas would be fine with me.

Lunch: Depending on what I feel like, it can include a bowl of Progresso Light, a ham sandwich on wheat bread, or a dish at the cafeteria.

Dinner: Same stuff as lunch but it may also include some frozen fish you can bake.

Snacks: Apples, bananas, carrots, grapes, yogurt, and a low fat Special K bar. I only drink water and Lipton's Diet Green Tea also. Nothing else.


Workout:

I exercise every weekday.

Except for Tuesdays and Fridays, I start out by riding on a stationary bicycle for 20 minutes. I use to run but you can guess what being 6'1 at 240+lbs can do to your legs. This is a way for me to do cardio but also make sure my legs don't get *bleep*ed up.

I then go on to lifting every Mon, Wed, and Friday. I do curls, bench press, slanted bench press, and also use some device for my abs. It's basically doing sit ups but with weights. All in all, I work out my biceps, triceps, chest, abs, and back. I usually will do 3 sets of 10 reps with each and then do that again 15 minutes later. I use to do all machines but now all I use is free weights. I

Misc:

I always walk back and forth to my classes. Depending on which class, each walk time take 5 mins or 10 mins. So I will usually spend 15-30 minutes each weekday walking back and forth to my apartment. There are shuttle buses but I will never use them unless there is extreme weather. I don't use the elevator anymore and only use the stairs. Also, every Tuesday and Friday I play Ultimate Frisbee (if you don't know what that is then feel free to ask) with friends for 1 to 2 hours.



Results So Far:

When I started in Sept, I weighed 258lbs. Since the last time I weighed myself (Saturday), I weighed 245. So I've lost 13lbs so far. I don't get physically tired as easily as I did, my clothes are more loose, and I feel great. From here on out, I'm keeping track of my weight:

Early Sept: 258lbs
8/11/08: 245lbs
16/11/08: 242lbs
15/1/08: 237lbs



I wish I took some pictures before I started in Sept but I didn't take any because, honestly, I thought I wouldn't get any results. So I'm going to just take pictures right now and those will be my before pictures.

I'm more in it to lose weight but I'd like to bulk up a little and trim a little. I get protein through ham sandwiches and Total has about 3g of Protein per serving.

Workout...it's hard to say. My gym has machines that I use. Basically I do bench press, curls, pull downs, a machine that does my abs, and some other machine in which the exercise I can't describe. For each one I do 3 sets of 10. Sometimes 4 sets if I'm not feeling the burn. I don't bother to work on my legs since I run so much.

I eat the ones with no sugar, fat free. It says it on there "Fat Free" and "No Sugar".

It's always different. It can include things like porkchops or some kind of meat. Which helps with my protein intake. But it's like a mini-resturant or something so the entrees change quiet a bit.

I guess if I had to choose, losing weight is my prime objective. But I can already tell a difference in how I look and feel. Plus my pants and shorts fit better.

I said I don't want to do anything with my legs because I run so much. They are sore enough with just running alone.

Don't think that running will be enough workout for legs to keep up with benching/rows etc on your upper body, keep it all in proportion.

Do something simple like:

Dealift
CLean and Press
Pull ups
DUmbell bench


That should it most of your body cept your quads properly. Well and biceps if your a bicep freak.

It's not about working out my legs. I just don't want them to be too sore. Because I'm so heavy, my knees and legs have always taken a major hit. I've had a fair amount of strength my whole life, so lifting and stuff comes easy, if not that, naturally. But my legs and knees are very tender. Once I lose more weight I may go in to workouts involving the legs.

I haven't been explaining very well on what my goal is. My goal is to burn fat and to trim up. You know, not be so flabby.
