Amutt14's 4-5-1

Hey all, Angelo here (aka Amutt14 or Am0ney). this is a repost of a tactic i came up with around this time last year, when i really got into FMH for the first time. hope you find it useful.

Right, so this is my first tactic, closely based on Mr. Jose Mourinho's preferred formation while at Chelsea. This formation is not designed to score 3 or 4 a game, however, it will pretty much guarantee you a result and 1 or 2 goals per game.

The teams I've used this formation succesfully with are:

FMH10:
North Queensland Fury FC (5 Consecutive A-League Titles)
Chelsea (Won Premier League, Finalists - Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup)

FMH09:
Chelsea (Won Premier League, League Cup)
Fulham (Won FA Cup, 6th place)
Watford (2nd place)
Charlton (Won Championship, League Cup)
Colchester (Won League One, FA Cup Semi-finalists)
Napoli (5th place, Won Italian Cup)
Inter (Won Serie A, Champions League)
Sassuolo (Won Serie B)
Legnano (Won Serie C1/A)

FC
AML----------AMR
MC MC MC

DL DC DC DR

Team Instructions:
Emphasis: Attacking
Passing: Normal
Tackling: Normal
Pressing: No
Offside Trap: No
Counter Attack: No (!! if you go a goal up, change to YES. it will guarantee you the win. !!)
Men Behind Ball: No

Player Instructions:
Passing: All set to Team
Tackling: 3 MC's set to Committed, the rest set to Team
Pressing: 3 MC's set to Yes, the rest set to No
Pass To: All set to R/L/C
Set Pieces(A): GK set to Normal, DL and DR set to Back, the rest set to Forward
Set Pieces (D): GK and middle MC set to Normal, FC set to Forward, the rest Back
Free Role: All set to No
Forward Runs: DL, DR, middle MC, AML, AMR, FC set to Yes, the rest set to No
Run With Ball: same settings as Forward Runs
Hold Up Ball: all set to No
Long Shots: all MC's set to Yes, the rest set to No
Through Balls: all set to No
Cross Ball: DL and DR set to Yes, the rest set to No (!! AML and AMR can be set to Yes if you wish, but wingers are more cohesive when set to No !!)
Marking: GK, AML, AMR, FC set to None, DL, DR and middle MC set to Zonal, rest set to Man

Helpful Tips:
Don't set any runs, it will ruin the natural balance of the formation.

Your middle MC should have good heading, passing, shooting, tackling and creativity.

Your right and left MC's should at the very least have good passing, shooting and creativity.

If you haven't figured it out yet, this tactic relies heavily on the creativity and decisions of all 3 of your MC's, so make sure they have ample.

Your FC doesn't necessarily have to have great heading, because there are two general types of forwards that work in this tactic:
  • fast target-men (good pace, strength and heading) and
  • the little dribblers (average to poor heading, good pace, dribbling, passing and shooting).
An FC in this formation needs to be a decent dribbler and decision maker. there's nothing worse than a forward who will lose the ball or squander chances.

Immediately after scoring, switch 'Counter Attack' to yes. This will pretty much guarantee you the win.
(Optional: also switch 'Emphasis' to 'Balanced.' This will relax your team and wear them out slower now that you have the lead.)

please try this over the course of at least one season and comment and rate.
