Anyone still play?

Hey, yeah i still play this game. I tend to buy FM every other year but have yet to get FM2012 as i'm still enjoying this version. I tend to have bursts of playing this game then not or wanting to play straight after MOTD!

I have a habit of controlling more than one team at a time. My current save has seen me take Arsenal FC from the start to the best club side in Europe/World. I began trying to buy english only players i.e Rodwell, Addison, Richards, Hart and eventually Rooney (£105 mill!) Then as the competition improved I had to venture out into foreign markets. Am looking for a new challenge for this manager now.

My second manager in this save started out saving Fulham from relegation into League 1 and pushing them into a playoff place the following season. Then accepting an offer to be the West Ham United manager, even thought they were mid-table in the Championship. I steered them to a Championship League title the following year as they still had a good squad but once confidence was restored it was easy really. A couple of seasons of buying and selling wisely (sometimes) saw me claim a Europa League spot but unfortunatley this season has seen my league form plummet to a relegation battle, partly due to selling a couple of well respected first team players. I have currently battled back to 12th with a game in hand then 4 left to the end of the season. My expected top half finish IS achieveable, just. On the plus side I am all but into the semi-finals of the Europa League Cup having opened up a 4-1 first leg win away to Paris SG. My players have slowly come around to me again except my linch-pin number 1 goalkeeper who looks to be leaving on a free this summer. ARRRRGGG!

My third team on this file is Sunderland. Jumped straight in when they were 18th after 10 games and they sacked Bruce a couple of seasons ago as I knew there squad and club stature was a lot better than their league position. They had ALOT of money to spend which over the course of two and a half seasons has seen a 6nd place Premiership finish, followed by a 2nd place and this season we look nailed on for another 6th place along with a League Cup title, FA Cup semi-final still to play and Europa League Cup semi-final soon to be achieved. this team does have a very english look to it's back line. GK: Smithies, LB: Gibbs, CB: Addison, CB: Shawcross, RB: Phil Jones. I have a couple of really good young centre midfielders coming through this season so the future looks good for the Black Cats.

So yeah, thats my current game. As West Ham manager I have made some really smart, good bargin buys which I would love to share if anyone is interested.

I have thought about starting with Newcastle as they have a good squad to start with and your guarenteed to get promoted. Also they often get taken over with lots of cash pumped into the club not to mention the big fan base they have filling the ground week to week.

As I said in my previous post i'm current with Sunderland and it's good fun as they have good finances too. I'd recommend them if you want to try a new game

I still attempt to play, but havent been able to get into a save properly for a while.... currently trying with blyth spartans.... i only ever seem to get one good save on each version and that is the first one i start, which was with gateshead on this version - getting them to the championship before the save corrupted.

Have you tried uninstalling and the reinstalling the game. It might work.

I'm still plugging away with Man Utd. I'm in my 4th season now. I've won Premiership every year so far and am 8 pts clear in Jan 2013. Romulo Lukoku is my best buy. He gets loads of goals and he's still only 20.

I got bored with Man Utd as I just kept winning the Premiership year after year (never quite managed the champions league but there you go).
So I thought I'd start at the bottom and took on Crawley of the Blue Square Premier league. Total disaster - they never did anything.
Now I'm starting with Altincham (BSP) - they have the advantage of being part time 'minnows' so no one has any expectations of them. I'm currently 7th in feb, though I've lost a few lately. I got a couple of great free signings (Giallombardo and Aaron Moses-Garvey) who are worth about £200k between them. I tried to sell them at mid-season to raise funds but no one would take them even at knock-down prices. So I've kept them. I didn't have any transfer budget at all!
I tend to use a diamond formation (either narrow or wide depending on what my scouts tell me about the opposition).

I'm still managing Altrincham. We were top of League 1 at one point but ended up about 11th. The problem is finance. The ground only holds 6,000 and I cannot get the Board to put any money into developing training or youth facilities. My transfer budget for 2016 -17 is only £60k and my scouts keep recommending players who cost 10 or 20 times that much. So progress is slow. My best result to date was to knock West Brom out of the FA Cup. Unfortunately we got beaten 4 - 0 at home by Chelsea in the 5th round.
All good clean fun though!

Just deleted FM12 and reinstalled FM10. Is there any upto date updates?

I've abandoned FM2010 for the moment after two useless tries at managing Newcastle United.
I'm now using FM 2008 and Newcastle came 4th at the end of the first season.
