SLBs careers are completely different to ones where you've started a new game and are just updating from that, it has a unique point in that it's almost always far in to the season.

I'm sure that those sort of threads are fine because they are showcaseing success and can also turn in to a thread where people might ask for: a saved game; screenshots; tactics; or any general FM questions.

There won't be enough interest sustained to make a forum for it or add it on to another forum. The thread at the top genuinely does suffice for most careers as they are short-lived.

Surely if a career thread is made in the main forum then it can be judged on a case by case basis by the mods whether or not it has any sort of unique value to allow it?

yes i repspect that but if some people want to make a thread about there careers i think they should do. SLB's for example are just great and in a way i feal sorry for him its been taken off him. He started updating from season 1 if you havnt been following his progress and everyone else just wants to follow his amazing footsteps and make a career , and to start a career you start from the begining.

Why not just post it in the Stories forum then? :S

Sorry that I haven't chimed in on this for a few days but here is a synopsis of the thought process that led us here...

Yes, the career threads are fun sometimes and certainly if anyone has managed 20 years on and wants to post a thread I doubt that anyone would have a problem with that.

The problem is that people are starting a thread from day one in their careers when in reality these posts should go to the HDR, Story of my Season or SOMS forum. Having five or six of these threads on the main page doesn't do terribly much good when recruiting new members, new posters will stop by and see threads about careers with whomever and just trot on to somewhere else. The point is to have a vibrant community talking about FM as a whole, not simply showing off what they have been up to lately.

And yes, the career threads do generate discussion but it isn't a varied discussion about the game in general. In fact, they seem to bog down discussion a little bit...the main board has become more of a place to show off than to actually participate in anything and we are very much trying to change it back.

So please, do take a look in the HDR and Story of your Season thread. You will see that everyone is already doing what you were doing and that there are a lot of fine posters in there who won't bite. Or take a little extra time and turn your thread into a SOMS, more traffic in that forum would definitely be a good thing.

Also, and this is not directed at any one person in particular, lets see a little bit less memberating out there, okay?
