Speeding up FM

I dunno if this is the right place to post this but I'd like to know if you have any tips. I'm playing on a large database with the English, Brazilian, Spanish, and Italian leagues loaded (down to the lowest divisions, well, not tier 10 and such). I only get half a star of performance. I know my computer can't be that bad that it can't run this game alright. It's very slow when processing and stops responding intermittently. Does have any ways to speed the game up?

Thanks a million.

re: Speeding up FM

Unfortunately the newer versions of FM have so much going on that they require more RAM than older versions, even though they only appear to be doing the same things as before.

You need to either cut back on the leagues or database size to improve your performance without upgrading the RAM in your PC.

The other thing to remember is that playing in windowed mode greatly reduces performance.

re: Speeding up FM

I wouldn't be that surprised about the rating. Half a star is still quite playable; I regularly load games which have ranked as half a star, and still process relatively quickly, bar transfer windows where it takes a little more time than usual.

I would change your Processing Fixtures option in Preferences to Fastest (Can't Interrupt) and if that doesn't get a big enough boost, I would just try to run FM with few programs runnings. Even then, I can manage to run Firefox, WLM, WMP and FM pretty smoothly together (exception being 3D matches; a little jaggy and stilted, but still watchable).

edit// Bear in mind, you're loading something like 50,000 players in the database, not to mention everything else that occurs around them.

re: Speeding up FM

-Try not loading BSS/BSN/BSP Leagues, as your most likely not gonna play them to be honest.

-Instead of putting all leagues as "playable", change it to only viewable, so you can still see the league postions, transfers, change of managers and son on, but it helps speed up the process a lot more me.

- pLug in a Usb to increase ram and hard drive space.

- And most importantly, if you have Vista or later versions, dont use the vista theme, change to classic windows theme while playing the game, it helps, trsut me

I have half a star aswell, with a crappy 1.5ghz processor on my laptop, and my one runs as smooth as ever

re: Speeding up FM

A USB is not going to improve anything unless you specifically allot it for that ReadyBoost malarkey.
