Downloading training plans, formations etc

Is it just me or does anyone else find that downloading these things that someone else has devised completely defeats the purpose of the game. Even lists of wonderkids etc? whats the point, surely there is more satisfaction in scouting your own players and finding your own gems, creating your own match winning formation and tactics and developing your own great training plan.
I absolutely cannot see the point in this, people comment on how they get conference teams to the prem, hardly an achievement when using something youve downloaded!! You may as well just ask SI for the best and easiest way to win games etc.

I agree with both of you. I dont find any personal satisfaction in downloading tactics, formations etc, but I agree with what Burton Boy is saying.

re: Downloading training plans, formations etc

I fall on both sides of the fence on this point.
I totally agree player-wise. I found it a waste of the game when you sign the same players, wonderkids, ethopian lower league stars every game. I've never used recommendations and every file I play, I differ in the players I sign. I think it defeats the purpose signing the same bunch of stars everytime.
I do however understand the training packs. The training schedule, I have to admit I haven't explored thoroughly, in a testing every type of training going sense. I set up my own for each position, then import them to every file I play and apply them.
I therefore can understand downloading a pack and using that each game, as a time saving process.
Tactics wise I see both, again personally I love developing my own to suit my team. However I have had times on certain older FMs when you can't win for love nor money and you see a thread of someone winning the league, you can't help but wonder where your going different.
Guess it all comes down to how you want to play the game. Certainly wouldn't knock someone for it. Thats the amazing part of FM, you can play it in so many ways and everyone has their own approach, whether its winning the quadruple with Chelsea, getting Whitby town in the league, making Chicago Fire the best side in the MLS...it's how you want to play the game really! One player may sell Zamora, the next may get 20 goals with him...all down to your style.

Why would you get angry over someone playing the game, how they want? Get over it mate, better things to worry about.

re: Downloading training plans, formations etc

I see what u mean, well kind of anyway. The thing is if u were a manager irl most chairmen would want you to bring in the very best players available to the club, obviously theyre are a few greedy bleeps like hicks and gillete who dont want you to spend anything but most chairrmen do and i bring that theory into football manager aswell I sign the very best available to my club even if the player im signing is really popular on here or not.

re: Downloading training plans, formations etc

I think downloading formations and using players found on here is bad, but I disagree with the training as its far too hard and annoying and takes too long to want to do it myself.

Also no need to complain, its not like its an online game and these people are somehow cheating you out of winning

In absolutely no way was i 'complaining' about how people play the game. Yes its completely up to them, i was simply trying to start a debate. Of course it doesnt matter to me what other people do with their game. I was just trying to canvas other peoples views on something that i think 'defeats the purpose of the game'.
From the absolutely inane comment of 'get over it mate' I nowsee perhaps this wasnt the best forum to post something that encourages debate or requires people to think.

If you wanted to start a " debate " why moan that other people have different opinions to your own during that debate?

That was my initial point, I then backed this up with the reasons that i think this. This is what happens in a debate, you have two or more opposing points of view. Clearly this concept is lost on people.

Im confused as to how this is telling me that you disagree and have put your reasons why above?? There isnt a reason here apart from, 'someone playing the game, how they want'. What a great constructive comment that is!!
