Game Informer Fail

As with Mark Bozon's (IGN) joke of a review, Jeff over at Game Informer completely fumbles his Attempt at reviewing MW:R.

quote Game Informer
Second, using the Wii Remote as a pointer for first-person shooters sucks. When playing an FPS with a traditional controller, the majority of the time your aiming stick is at rest – you make minor corrections via minute taps to control where you are looking. Conversely, the Wii Remote requires you to constantly aim at the center of the screen, lest your POV sways around like a drunkard falling off of a barstool. Rotating is performed by moving the cursor towards the edge of the screen, and although Treyarch included a handy button to freeze your view and aim as if you were playing a light gun game, the combination simply isn’t an acceptable solution.
And yet they gave Metroid Prime: Corruption, a game with comparable controls, a score of 9.5, saying:

quote Game Informer
Corruption isn’t just the best-looking Wii game to date; it’s the best Metroid Prime game period. This is due in large part to the fluid controls. The highly debated, stubborn lock-on aiming system has been replaced with something far better. You can finally look around while moving by aiming the Wii remote.
They also loved Metroid Prime Trilogy's control system:

quote Game Informer
The addition of this control system for the first two titles makes me wish I could go back in time and experience them for the first time all over again. Those who haven’t already are lucky indeed.
I must applaud your logic, GI.

Jeff also complains about the inconvenient placement of the wiimote's buttons, saying most of them are out of reach when holding the it as a pointer. This man needs to be reminded that the controls can be completely remapped. And worse, he used in his review the horrible infamous pre-beta screens that weren't even supposed to be released. Seriously, they couldn't have been bothered to take a few new screenshots of their own?

I really respected Game Informer, and I still do for the most part, but this review is just ludicrous.

Man, the dude must be fucking retarded if he can't work the simple 'point and shoot' capability of the Wiimote.

Also, notice how IGN gave MW a score of 7 and WAW a score of 8.

If that ain't screwed up, I don't know what is.

You must remember that everyone has their own opinion about it. I think that this game is much better than WaW however the graphics have let it down a considerable amount. But don't judge a book by its cover, the rest is fantastic by the looks of it.

Yes the graphics are slightly better than World At War's but not as good as they could be.

I noticed campaign mode was really blocky. I couldn't even make out the guy's face.

Oh well, I went straight to multiplayer mode anyways
And the graphics there are 10 times better than WaW

Did you ever consider that Game Informer might just be so impressed by Modern Warfare 2, that they really didn't give a f*** about MWR. Hmm.. Modern Warfare 2 got a 9.75, and MWR got a 6.5? I think I might be right...

re: Game Informer Fail

Yes but you cannot compare 2 totally different games. MW2 is a brand new game on the Xbox, and MWR is a port of game that was already on the Xbox.

Well that's pretty much what I'm saying, they can't be compared. Yeah Modern Warfare is awesome but you can't say it's comparable to MW2. Game Informers shouldn't have even written a review on MWR, it was a terrible review. Just give the damn game an 8.0 because it's really not as bad as they said.
