Shield not working

When you bought it did you remember to equip it? If not, just hold down the - button and then drag across to the shield and release to equip it. That's the problem I had when I bought my new shield because it went out of my head to equip it.

Yep that was the problem. Would of taken me a while to figure that out cause I keeped on going into the item screen to select the shield & when I pressed - link would just pull out a potion. Its funny that they waste 3 minutes of your time showing you how to attach motion plus but don't tell you how to equip the shield, they just say shake the numchuk.

Guys, i had the same problem - bought new shield. But when i tried holding - and moving to the shield, no shield showed up (didn't equip), so i still get a potion bottle when i select -, and i have no shield. I tried again - holding minus - move over-top of shield in bag - release - up pops the rectangular description of the shield, but the shield is not equipped! What am i missing here?

Yes, it still happens after i remove the disk and turn the unit off, and then put the disk back in. I also have a scoop and a life potion, but i am unable to select [equip] the life potion - the scoop is the only thing available during play when i press (-), regardless what i select in the menu.

I have no shield because it wore out and was destroyed - so i buy a new wooden shield and try to equip it, and when that fails i have it upgraded by the 'smith' and i see the upgraded shield in my sack but am unable to equip the upgraded shield either.

I have tried many times now, many different ways - but i presume it is quite simple to do when it is working.
I have just come back from the deep woods when this all happens...

In the equipment menu - i press (-) and the white bar pops up - i move the cursor over the shield - i then let go of the (-). The description rectangle appears and indicates i should press A. Is that the right procedure?

First i press (1) to go to the equipment section. This is the section that has the sword on the left and the circular sack in the middle - the shield is in the top slot. The next page has the items you find. Is that the wrong place? what do you mean by "standing around" - sorry i guess i am missing something still..

Do i start by selecting (1) to go to equipment?

UPDATE: OK i tried again (just standing around) and this time it worked! The times before, selecting (-) just took out the scoop. Now it gives you the white bar and the options. I guess the trick is to equip the shied immediately after buying it! Otherwise you just get the scoop when you select (-) while standing around.

If you are having difficulty bringing up your shield after upgrading or purchasing, all you need to do is press and hold "-" button (do not press 1 and go to gear).

i hav a tip: after u complet the sand temple,(i could be wrong) go to the Bazaar, go to the shopkeeper guy and talk to him. he should sey he's got sumthin new. it should be a sheild that deflects both fire, and electric, and regenerates overr time. its worth the amount it costs and more.
