You mean retailers in America don't send games out early? I'm expecting to get my copy on the Wednesday or Thursday before the UK release.

You're so damn lucky if you get it early. I would be surprised though because this is a huge release and stores can get in a lot of trouble for releasing early. You'll have to PM me when you get the game (if you can wait to play). As you may recall, in June a lot of retailers were releasing OOT3D early. Target said they did but when I went they realized it wasn't released yet. So no, not usually. Do a lot of games get released early over there? We also have a tighter law system than you guys do, correct?

Oh, games never get released in actual shops early.
But online retailers are allowed to send off games earlier, so as to guarantee that their customers get them by release day. Royal Mail first class post usually takes 1-3 days to arrive, so online retailers will dispatch their games on the Tuesday, so as to guarantee they get to you by their Friday release day. But of course, the game usually ends up taking only a day or two, so it arrives early.
Also, it's not a matter of law. It isn't illegal to release a game early. But it does leave the retailer in danger of being sued (and the US certainly is a far more litigious country than the UK). UK retailers do have the Monopolies Commission on their side, however. Basically, if a high street shop releases a game early, all other shops with a certain distance are allowed also to release said game early, so as to be able to compete with them (competition being the main thing that the Monopolies Commission protects), and only the company that originally released the game early can be sued, not the ones that followed suit.
