This is a big question, probably the one that fills in quite a few holes in the X series plot. I feel that X is not the original Mega Man, enhanced or rebuilt. Zero was copied off of Dr. Light's plans in the Power Fighters, that means that Dr. Light might have already made X or was in the process of. Another reason, Dr. Light tells X that he made him, he could have said, "You are the original MegaMan." and things to that effect. Dr. Light also calls X by his name . . . X, except in one game where he calls him Mega Man X. I'm interested in other peoples ideas. Could X7 explain it all, I doubt it, but it could give us some extra info.

X IS NOT MEGAMAN! HE IS A REPLOID, AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT MODEL FROM THE ORIGINAL MEGAMAN! NO ONE IN MMX IS BASED OFF ANYONE FROM THE ORIGINAL MM!!!

Okay guys, you are mostly right, except Jonny. We never said that the X series had nothing to do with megaman. And DMZ, try not to post off topic anymore.

My post was both on and off topic anyways. X could be called the recreation of MegaMan. But still there are the ones who will still say the are the same, even though they arent.

X is not necessarily the same Megaman, think of it as a new model with the human traits of maturing and thinking, like Zero is kinda like a new model of Bass.

well technically no, X cannot be called a reincarnation of megaman, because that would mean that X was made from megaman, which did not happen.

well, I believe that reincarnation means "reborn". So I suppose that they don't have to built from the same parts. But Dr. Light's creation of X was not an attempt to re-create megaman.

Basically, MMX was technically made as just a creation to see if the Megaman series did managed to go well....eventually they did, thats why you may see X2 when MM7 was out. So Capcom kinda had to make some excuse or explanation to remark about this idea
