Heart Gold and Soul Silver are the exact same size as Platinum (1024 Mbit or 128 MB) and there's only two regions. Compare this to Diamond and Pearl which only ran on 512Mbit (64 MB) cards and only one region without all the extras Platinum brought to the DS generation. Current DS cards can hold 2048Mbit (256 MB) of data, making it entirely possible for Hoenn to fit on the same card. If you say, for example, that one region in HGSS is 64MB (which the data for the region itself is less than that; it's the game engine and calculations that run behind the scene that take up a large portion of the 128MB), three regions would theoretically be 192MB, which is within the 256MB limit of current DS game card technology. All that would have to be added to the game to add in Hoenn would be the maps for the towns and gyms in the regions, a script for the region, trainers and their Pokemon, wild Pokemon data for each area, and eight or so new sprites for the Hoenn gym leaders. All the underlying framework is already there.

There are DS Cartridges that can hold up to 100 full games. If Nintendo wanted to they'd be able to add all 4 regions thus onto one cartridge.

nah, maybe 20th anniversary. or put it on the next handheld system.
