Plus, you also get a free tm as the reward 8D. Grows fast, strong, and the better flyer- the easiest alternative to Pidgeot.

How easy is it to get Magmar in this game?

I know Magby isn't all that hard, but I don't recall having the ability to catch a Magmar.

Also, I think I'm going to go for a Phanphy for a physical wall. What do you guys think? Can it benefit?

For type difference, I would try for a Steelix. Or Onix until you get Metal Coat. And when you dont need the HM slave anymore, I would say maybe Bannette or Shedinja or some other ghosty

for heart gold it's always good to start of with a Chikorita or a Tododile because there's Ho-oh whom you can get before going to Victory Road and facing the Elite Four. I go with Pokemon based on stats and what move combinations they have that could form a tactical victory. I always get an Abra by Goldenrod to have a Psychic pokemon that could help on the long run.

There's Chuck [leader of Cianwood Gym] and Bruno of the Elite Four.

You could also get a fighting Pokemon [Tyrogue] by facing the old Gym leader of Saffron City with the fighting Pokemon by the caves that intertwine Ecruteak City and Mahogany town.

From that you could get a Hitmonlee, Hitmontop or a Hitmonchan [his fire punch, ice punch, and thunder punch makes him a bit better on my book.]

I don't know about most of you but I divide the HM's within my team of pokemon and then when I get to Blackthorne I use the Move Deleter to get rid of them. Then get a slave pokemon for that.


There's a lot of Pokemon, and I always see myself making about two or three teams of them.

I picked up Heart Gold the other day, and I've been trying to complete a decent team. I have some ideas, but I do forget most of the Jhoto Pokemon due to the lack of attention over the Poke-years. Anyway, my team going to look like this

As you can see, I haven't really thought things through. I do not want a Pigeot since I already played through with one on Leaf Green. I played with a Butterfree too, but they can come in handy, so I decided to use one.

I've given up on Lapras and decided to gone with Vaporeon only because I realized Umbreon isn't the best choice [I have a level 30 Eevee XD] I'm also thinking Butterfree isn't the best decision either because the main reason I wanted him was for Dream Eater which he actually could learn in Leaf Green, but I may just stick with him.
