The majority of NDS owners don't own a DSi, and that probably isn't going to change in a years time. The Lite has been out for nearly three years outside of Japan, and the original DS for 4+. There's no reason to make it DSi exclusive when they could make it compatible with all three handhelds. Especially when Pokemon barely makes use of the touch screen, the DS's namesake, do you really think they're going to incorporate any of the DSi's somewhat useless functions?

Gold and Silver can "talk" to Crystal, right? And have battles as well? Just like Ruby/Sapphire/FR/LG with Emerald, right? Crystal and Emerald had the sprite animations.

Games don't see the graphics. They only see code. I'm just saying but don't count the potential out.

I doudt they'll have Pal Park, they're moving away from the GBA games.
And why would they need the time machine. It's highly unlikely that there will be any new pokemon, so it'll be able to just trade normally with D/P/P.

But why do you keep saying that? Kanto was integral to G/S/C, Without it, the game is way too short. And a load of pokemon are missing. And a load of TMs, and the ferry port and olivine would be made redundant, and there'd be no access to Mt. Silver, and the story itself would be shortened.
If they took out Kanto, about a third of the game would be missing.

No, the game was adjusted to compensate for Kanto. If Kanto wasn't present, Johto can still stand on its own as a region with proper adjustments.

What you couldn't do in Kanto in G/S/C is more than what you COULD do in Kanto originally.
