All specs. are the same except for the controller speed... the TX is 263MHz Vs. the Pro at 324MHz.
If you go to google.com and punch in Radeon 9700 TX it will direct you to several Dell pages that give you some pertinent info on it.

There are Radeon Overclocking utilities but you could very well fry the card if it's boosted right off the bat. I suggest 5-10mhz increments if you decide to go this route.
You'll know you're around your max once you notice off color spots appearing and garbled graphics spreading on the screen. At which point I usually back down about 7-8mhz to be safe. Good luck with the tweaking and be sure to use caution. Search up Rage3D Tweaker on your favorite search engine and program links should come up. ------------------- ![]()

I also saw this card on the dell order page and was intrigued, even tempted to add it. But I realized it was not as cheap as it seemed, because it was not purely $~130, but also in exchange for the gf4 mx valued at ~$50 making the total price of the card around ~$180. If it is indeed a lower clocked radeon 9700 it would perform similarly to the radeon 9500 pro and cost similar as well wouldn't it? Point being, its not as cheap as it seems also considering we don't know exactly how well/poorly it will perform.

no same specs as 9700 pro only slower clocks means the card will be faster than 9500 pro but only slightly slower than the 275clocked 9700. for cheaper than 9500 pro!!! maybe oc to atleast 9700 speeds!

I had problems finding info on this card as well. I finally stumbled on this site. Here is the main text of the site. "

Well, I'm gonna buy a Dell with this videocard in it.
Looking at the specs it seems to me that a "9700 TX" is just a usual "ATI Radeon 9700" (not a 9700 PRO) with another name that Dell has given it, maybe to help consumers separate the two. In my case, I just got confused at first.;-)) Anyway, I'll rather fill my new Dell with RAM and a HUGE hardrive for video editing. Lodvar

I'm getting this card with my new Dell, also for video editing with Avid Express DV 3.5 but I also have had trouble finding info on the TX. Fact is I don't think it matters that much for video editing. Am I wrong? This sounds like a gamer's card. The only reason I'm getting it is because I want the dual monitor support for the actual $10 adapter (make sure you get that). I wish the thing was more suited for video or maybe I'm wrong and it is. Everyone calls these things graphics cards but Dell, they refer to them as Video cards. Thing is that I think I'm still going to have to add a video in/out card for firewire. There's nothing on the configuration that I can see that even mentions firewire.

I'll let you all know how she looks, I just placed the order for the TX, and have my fingers crossed.
I was an nVidia diehard until I fried my last one, and didn't have the availiable cash at the end of my pay period to buy a new one. Bought an 8500 128, and I am a convert.

My mistake, you are right I forgot the 9500 pro uses a 128bit memory bus not 256bit like the 9700, so in essence this is just a 9700 clocked at 263mhz! Sounds like it'll perform pretty well for the price, but will only come with dell pc's. Darn I should of got one -Gxcad

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I ordered a Dell Dimension 8250 last week with this card and have been looking up info also. This thread helped me decide. Just wondering though, from the people who already it, how is it? It can't be any worse than the 4mb Integrated card on the Optiplex GX150 I have now.
