I don't think there's much of a backstory given for Shinra...although I skipped a lot in Chapter 5, so it might have been explained. But mostly he's just the Al Bhed "whiz kid". About using the company name, it might have just been a tie-in...like how Ragnarok and Ultima reappear often. Some people also say that FF VII and X are linked, but I don't know, it seemed a little far-fetched to me. Does anyone know if "Shinra" means anything as a word? -------------------
