Tri-Ace: "SEGA Is More Open To New RPG Ideas Than Square Enix"
|
quote Tri-Ace: "SEGA Is More Open To New RPG Ideas Than Square Enix" Square Enix have published quite a few of Tri-Ace's games in the past, but this time around Tri-Ace have decided they want SEGA to publish their upcoming RPG Resonance of Fate (known as End of Eternity in Japan). And there's a reason for it. According to Tri-Ace developer and RoF's director Takayuki Suguro, "SEGA has a more open attitude towards accepting new RPG ideas than Square Enix, we'd decided to have SEGA release End of Eternity." gamegrep article Ouch for Squeenix. XD

Maybe Square-Enix are jealous and are like "If we didn't think of it first, then we're not going to publish it"
Although a lot of the Tri-Ace based RPGs released by Square-Enix lately have been quite sub-par. Which could mean that perhaps Square-Enix aren't taking on the RPGs not because they are too radical - but simply because they suck? There is always two sides to a story.

Tri ace doesn't have any new rpg ideas. Sure they come up with a new plot in each game, if you can call alot of them a plot, but the core gameplay mechanics are basic jrpg with nothing new really added.

Tri-Ace should make a Sonic JRPG.
I all hope you know I'm joking because that is a horrible idea.

Or is it???? These days companies are so desperate to make money they will try anything. Does anyone want to trade Resonance of Fate for FFXIII? Warlock.

Resonance of Fate looks pretty good, but I do not think it beats FFXIII
However, I fell in love with Valkyria Chronicles at first sight!

Looking back at the article, I'd really like to know what these "new rpg ideas" are, because I surely can't tell. Guns as only weapon? Character changing clothes? I mean, looking at games like Nier, it doesn't seem SE is particularly closed at new approaches and styles in rpgs. In my opinion they had an internal conflict and were trying to make it look like a stylistic choice. quote Angelus

From the looks of what? I think it's a bigger OUCH for TriAce than for Square Enix because certainly the game would have benefitted from a bigger pubbicity, and a better release date. Edit: May 04, 10
