PES 2010 Draft League

Draft League 2010

This competition is a chance for you to choose and manage your preferred team against your fellow seekers! You will be given full control over your team's formation, tactics, transfer targets etc. in an attempt to guide your team to glory.

This will be largely based on the PEML I ran in the PES 2009 forum, but will have new aspects to keep everything fresh.

Info

There will be 16 teams in the competition, so sign up fast!

Please note, this may be subject to change.

The league will then be split into two leagues: Division 1, the 'Premier' division and Division 2, a feeder league.
The teams in each league will be chosen at random, using a generator, so don't be too disheartened if you are in Division 2!

At the end of each season, 2 teams will be relegated from Divison 1 and 2 will be promoted from Divison 2.

Games will all be played on one console as CPU vs. CPU, using your preferred formation and tactics of course.

As this is a draft league, you will get to choose your own team name and get to design your own kits!

NB; When signing up please state your team name. Kits can be designed later if you actually want to.

Draft Order

Once everyone has joined, we can start the drafting. The order that the managers shall draft will done on a random generator to ensure fairness.

Round 1: Free
Round 2: Free
Round 3: Free
Round 4: Free
Round 5: Free
Round 6: Free
Round 7: Free
Round 8: Free
Round 9: Free
Round 10: Free
Round 11: Free
Round 12: Free
Round 13: Free
Round 14: Mystery

The order of picking goes: 1,2,3....14,15,16,16,15,14....3,2,1,1,2,3....14,15,16 etc.
This is so that everyone gets a chance of choosing equally good players.

This gives everyone a squad of 14 players, which is a solid base for any team.

Mystery Pick

Another new concept which involves 16 random players, the highest overall available I might add, whose identities will be changed. They will be given a new name and nationality but will keep the same stats. The first person will get to choose from a list which will display the Name, Nationality, Age and Overall stats. Once the player has been chosen, the selector of the certain player will be PM'd with the players actual identity, he then has the choice whether to disclose this to the rest of the managers or not.

Transfers

During the draft you may have missed out on your favourite player. The transfer period, which will only last 1 week, allows you to finely tune your team into the best you can. To do this, everyone will be given €15,000,000 to start with. You may deal between yourselves, but for a transfer to be completed, both parties involved must confirm it in the thread.

To sign players from outside the draft league, they will have to be auctioned. Every player will start at €1,000,000 and the auction will last 24 hours from when it is initiated, with the highest bidder winning the player. These may be integral due to the fact that each team will only have 14 players after the draft.

Please Note: If you do not have sufficient funds to bid on a player, you will NOT bid on him. This is just bumping up the price and is unnecessary. If you are found to be doing so, there will be consequences.

Another way of signing players from outside the Draft League is by 'negotiating a contract' with them. This is a completely new concept, not seen anywhere else before. These may be integral due to the fact that each team will only have 14 players after the draft.

E.g.

Player 1 Negotiate Contract
Player 2 Negotiate Contract
Player 3 Negotiate Contract
Player 4 Negotiate Contract
Player 5 Negotiate Contract

Each player will have a minimum contract offer, as seen in the examples, and this will be based on their 'wages' in Master League mode. There will be 20 players up for contract negotiations who appear at each transfer window. So, there will no doubt be a mix of good and bad players. When a manager has offered a contract, there will be 24 hours until the player is won. This will be announced in the thread. If a manager is outbid, then he will be notified. However, each manager may only bid 3 times on each player. At the end of the 24 hours, the highest offer will win the player's signature.

If you are involved in a 'big' transfer, then you will be taken to a press conference. You can choose whether or not to attend the press conference, however if you do not decide to turn up, so to speak, you will forfeit any money that you might gain from 'attending' the press conference. The definition of a 'big' transfer won't be disclosed, nor will the amount of money gained from the press conference.

You must not have more than 32 players, or less than 16 players by the end of the transfer window. If you have over 32 players, your most recent signings will be released until 32 is reached. If you have under 16 players at the end of the window, you will sign players available on free transfer - no matter on the quality - until 16 is reached.

Similarly if you go into debt, you will be placed under a transfer embargo, meaning that you cannot buy any more players until the debts are cleared. If you are in debt at the end of a transfer window, your most recent signings will be auctioned off to the highest bidder until your books have been balanced. You have been warned!

Tactics

Tactics will be an important role throughout the Draft League. Perhaps you'll be up against it in a tough tie and will look for a solid defensive display with a 4-5-1 formation, or maybe you need to secure a win and go all out with a 4-2-4 lineup. You'll need to update your homepage accordingly, and it's up to you to do so before each game.

To aid you with creating a formation, Violent's formation creator should prove to be useful.

Your homepage must outline who is in your Starting XI, and subs - you can have 12 on the bench, your formation, set piece takers, captain etc. Remember to set it out clearly so that anyone could understand it.

All matches will be played with every team having GREEN form arrows, to make sure that it is fair.

Random Occurences

You can read more about these later on in the thread.

Prize Money

You can read more about these later on in the thread.

Cup Competitions

The cup competitions will be seeded. This is much easier with the introduction of the 'Overall' rating of players. The ratings of each player will be added together and an average taken. The eight teams with the lowest ratings will have to play in the qualifying round of the tournament and every other team will receive a 'bye'. This makes the numbers much easier to manage because with 20 teams > 10 > 5 doesn't work. So this stage is necessary for the competition to run smoothly. Also, the teams with the higher average ratings are more likely to land TV deals.

re: PES 2010 Draft League

Random Occurences
First post

Bad-boy footballers:
We all know what an unruly lot professional footballers are, and sometimes one of them will overstep the mark. Every season, ONE PLAYER IN THE ENTIRITY OF THE TWO LEAGUES will have one the major bad-boy occurances happen to him, and another will have a minor bad-boy incident. Note, only one of these will happen each season, not one of every kind of bad-boy behavioral occurences.

Major bad-boy occurences: Missing the rest of the season after they occur.

    • Failed doping test: He's done a Mutu, or a Ferdinand depending on which slant you want to put on it, and the randomly selected player will miss the remainder of the season as he serves out his ban.

    • Rape allegations: You know how footballers like to get pretty ladies back to their hotel rooms after the christmas party and give them a seeing to, but there's always one selfish young woman who just keeps saying no! The random player will miss the remainder of the season as he spends time in prison, on parole, going into court etc etc.

    • Battering some guy: Its not always Joey Barton who gets in fights, and the random player will be being accused of battery and assault, you know the score. Time spent in prison and the courtroom will result in his missing the entire of what remains of the season.

    • Drowning his sorrows: The player has been a functioning alcoholic until this point, but its got to a situation where his drinking problem has to be confronted. He'll miss the rest of the season in rehabilitation.
Minor bad-boy occurences: 5 games will be missed from the point of the occurence.

    • Scrap with a teammate: Bit of a Lee Bowyer theme here, getting in a tussle with one's team mate is never a good idea, and 5 games will be missed by the random player as a result of internal discipline.

    • Brawl with opponent: They happen sometimes in football, and this randomly selected player has overstepped the mark and lashed out at an opponent. A 5 game ban ensues...

    • Drink driving: Footballers are partial to a drink, and partial to fast cars. Put the two together, and you have a healthy 5 games out for the randomly selected player while he deals with the consequences.

Miscellaneous - Missing games as a result of occurences
The following are reasons a player might miss games during a season that don't belong in the bad-boy footballer section. A major occurance will result in the rest of the season being missed, and a minor occurance in 5 games being missed. There will be 1 major in the season, and 4 minors. 2 before the midseason window, 2 after.
Major miscellaneous player occurences: The rest of the season will be missed by the individual randomly selected.
    • Massive injury: The player has sustained a huge injury, like Alan Smith's broken leg a couple of years ago or Ronaldo's knee injury in 2000 when he was at Inter. He will miss the rest of the season having surgery, and recovering.
Minor miscellaneous player occurences: The player selected will be missing for 5 games.
    • Major injury: The player has randomly sustained a pretty bad injury in training, and will have to sit out the next 5 games.

    • Compassionate leave: The player's father has died, brother has been kidnapped, sister raped by Robin van Persie. You get the picture, they need time off for emotional reasons and will miss 5 games.
Training ground injuries: The player selected will be missing for 1 - 5 games.
    • Twisted Ankle: Out for 1 game.
    • Dead Leg: Out for 1 game.
    • Stubbed Toe: Out for 1 game.
    • Muscle Strain: Out for 2 games.
    • Dislocation: Out for 3 games.
    • Broken Cheek Bone: Out for 3 games.
    • Back Problems: Out for 4 games.
    • Knee Problems: Out for 4 games.
    • Broken Bone: Out for 5 games.

Cash injections:
Modern football is a big money business, and sometimes chairmen will become impatient for success in the short term and will throw money at their teams. Once per season, one team in the entirity of the league will be lucky enough to receive a cash injection from their chairman in time for the midseason window. Each of these will occur once per season.
  • Cash injection: A lump sum of €10m will be paid to the randomly selected team (teams placed lower in the league will be more likely to receive this, but in later seasons, traditionally lowly teams pushing for a good finish in the league or struggling big teams may receive it). However, the team will not be eligable for receiving any prize money for winning leagues, cups or having top scorers (they still get TV rights deals though).

  • Free auction (galactico signing): The team can sign one player who would normally have to be signed via the auction process for absolutely free! Makes sense to select the most expensive player you can if this occurs... However, the team will be ineligable for prize money that season, as with the cash injection occurence.

I think it's way too early for a comp lime this. For the Europeans the game has only been released a few days and, personally, the game hasn't even been released in Australia so it isn't giving us much time to get into the swing of things. I would have left it for at least 2-4 weeks, but oh well.

I can see your point but if it is anything like the last one then it will take about 2 months for everyone to pick all their players.

The Footy Forum draft took so long the season ended, and as Gnels said the PES6 one took ages and that was with 'more professional' and establised members. (And ColdBurn)
