'Pay once and play forever'  Funcom's MMORPG The Secret World no longer requires a subscription to keep playing. Rather, now you pay $30 and 'play forever'. While Funcom claims this is as straightforward as you'd hope, there will also be a Membership option (same cost as before) which offers $10/mo for the in-game shop, a Time Accelerator item that provides double XP for an hour every day, a 10% discount to all store items, and more -- it gets more complicated here. The news follows recent layoffs at the studio and somewhat low performance for the innovative title. Despite all these changes and bad news, Funcom is still planning to continue its major content updates, which to date have come on a monthly basis. Section: PC Games | |

Seemed like an interesting game but wasn't sold on it. Will pick it up after all the christmas shopping is done

I loved this game from the beginning. Quite honestly, it doesn't provide the grind fest of other games but that's a bonus for me. You can be casual with it and take it slow watching and reading through everything to get the whole story. It's a very story and mystery driven game. You sort of wonder what they'll do next. Can't believe the lack of coverage it got considering all the different approaches it's taken in this stale market. It really is tweaked to fit what the players want considering they threw in a gangham style dance emote...
