less than 1 GB will not work! Clean your somputer until you have at least 1 GB and then put in the CD and wait, if it doesnt start auto maticly go to "My Computer" and go to "Drive D"

re: CANT GET TO INSTALL |

hi!
I'm having a serious problem with the installer of monkey island 4. it already gets strange after I accept the EULA: http://toredekek.freeblog.hu/Files/installscreen1.jpg notice that the installer doesn't show the name of the game. in the text it writes "%P" instead. http://toredekek.freeblog.hu/Files/installscreen2.jpg this is what i see when i click the next button. it doesn't show any component and if i click "next", a readme comes up. if i click 20 times, a readme comes up 20 times. I've met the same problem with MI4 demo a lot of years back on a totally different computer. does this game hate me or what? thank you for your kind help.

re: CANT GET TO INSTALL |
quote geeteeI've had the same problem for years but I think I finally learned the solution, just a few minutes earlier. Since I'm at work now, I've not been able to try it yet but I believe it'll work. So I thought you might find it useful if I posted it here. Someone else told me about it in another forum... So the solution (if it works that is) is pretty simple. Most likely it's caused by your non-english regional settings in Windows. So open up the control panel and look for regional settings. It must be set to English for the installer to work. Stoopid bug IMO. I hope it truely works and it helps you too. Just a few hours and I'll see for myself when I get home, but I got so excited about it (after all I waited for years to be able to play the game) that I had to tell others about it immediately. EDITED: Well, I tried it and it WORKS! No problems. All you need to do is set the regional settings to US English before running the installer. After the game is installed you can set it back to whatewer you want, it doesn't seem to affect the game itself. This message was edited by Gubar on Jul 23 2006.

This worked for me (how to install Escape from Monkey Island under XP):
Start your PC in safe mode (press F8 whilst it is booting up). Run the installer - it should install without any problem. Restart the PC in normal mode. Don't run the game from the shortcut that it puts on the desktop. Instead, find the "Monkey4.exe" file. Right-click, and set compatibility mode to Windows 98. Now create a shortcut and put that one on your desktop. Worked for me

Try this: http://quick.mixnmojo.com/escape-from-monkey-island-setup which is a new installer that works on modern OSes. You still need to have the disc in the drive, though.
