Full setlist revealed! ...Save for one song?

quote Kotaku
This newest issue of Game Informer magazine has already landed in the hands of subscribers, featuring a cover story on MTV Games and Harmonix's The Beatles: Rock Band. Beneath that cover lies the game's final track listing.

Final minus one, that is. Game Informer appears to be keeping one of the game's songs under wraps, listing 44 of the 45 tracks expected in the final version of The Beatles: Rock Band, a list of classic songs that ranges from "I Saw Her Standing There" from 1963's Please Please Me to the medley "Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows" from 2006's Love. Read on for the full list, then check back with us tomorrow for additional hands-on impressions of The Beatles: Rock Band.

I wonder what that last song is. Glad to see "Getting Better", did not expect that and I thought I'd have to get it as DLC. Also glad to see "Hello Goodbye", but the lack of "Hey Jude" and "Help!" is disappointing unless one of those two is the final song left to be confirmed. I'm hoping for "Help!", but it could easily be "Hey Jude" or "Let It Be".

re: Full setlist revealed! ...Save for one song?

My thoughts:

So many songs from Please Please Me? I know Rolling Stone or something rated it as their best early work, but I disagree and personally think that A Hard Day's Night is actually their best (And a contender for my favorite). Also, I think Boys is kind of a weird choice from Please Please Me, would have preferred Ask Me Why, but I've talked to a friend about the Beatles and he thinks that's one of the more forgettable tracks from the album.

Also, as much as I like I Wanna Be Your Man, I think that song is one of their weakest tracks on that album. I would have liked Hold Me Tight or Till There Was You.

From A Hard Day's Night I would have liked at least one more song, preferably And I Love Her or Tell Me Why. I'm Happy Just To Dance With You is one of my favorites from that album but I don't think it's a good choice for the game.

Where's Help!? I can't believe it might not be in the game. Also, You're Going To Lose That Girl I would have enjoyed as well.

Lack of Norweigan Wood makes me sad, but I'll live because of DLC.

They nailed Revolver dead on for me, I'm just slightly missing She Said She Said. I can live with this, though.

Sgt. Pepper's is pretty good as well (I'm including Within You Without You/Tommorow Never Knows here), but I kind of wish that Good Morning Good Morning could have been replaced with Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite! which stands as my second favorite psychedelic song by them.

Magical Mystery Tour I'm prepared to deal with. I would have loved for this to have as many songs as the other big-hit albums here, but I knew it wouldn't be the case. It's got my two favorites though, so I can't really complain. For some reason, I really like Your Mother Should Know.

As far as The White Album goes, I agree with every song but would have probably preferred Julia to Dear Prudence. Don't care much for Helter Skelter, but I understand it was requested quite a bit.

And Abbey Road... well, I'm neither a fan of Come Together or I Want You (She's So Heavy), and had it been up to me I would have cut those songs from the disc to allow for other songs. I can live with them, though. The rest I agree with very much, leaving the medley for DLC.

I won't say much about Let It Be because I haven't listened to that one well enough to know the songs. Get Back/I Me Mine seemed like obvious choices to me because those are the ones that stuck out to me when I briefly listened to this album (Besides Let It Be).

Of course, I'm assuming this is the real setlist. Harmonix hasn't commented on this one to the best of my knowledge.

I personally am hoping that the yet to be revealed song is One After 909 or The Ballad of John and Yoko, but that seems like wishful thinking with some of their more beloved hits being unconfirmed.

Overall though, who could possibly complain with this setlist.

I don't think 'Boys' should've been included, after all its not a Beatles song per se, it was written by Berry/Gordy or one of the other Motown writers. I'm of the opinion that it should be Beatles content only, not other peoples songs. Yes, i'm a purist.

Dare I look at it a spoil myself......

Nope. Not this time. I ruined Super Smash Bros Brawl for myself but I'm not ruining The Beatles. I want it to be a surprise when I get the game.

"Twist and Shout" is also a song cover made famous by The Beatles, you can read more here.

Here are my thoughts:

4 songs is too many from Please Please Me, especially when you have to put in something like "Boys" in place of another some. While it's a good song on it's own, there's a couple of better songs on it I'd like to see, such as "Love-Me-Do" (although how well that would translate in game I'm not sure).

Can't really comment on With The Beatles because I haven't heard it too much, but "I Wanna Be Your Man" seems like a good choice.

I've only heard two songs off of A Hard Day's Night, and they included both songs from that so for me it's a good representation as I assume those two are the biggest hits off the album.

And again, with Beatles for Sale, I've only heard "Eight Days a Week", I'm not one to comment on their early work as I still need to hear it, but I'm a fan of the early work they put into the game.

Help! is an incredible album, if you ask me. However, not including the title track "Help!" was probably the biggest mistake. "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride" are probably the two biggest tracks off that album, but I suppose they have to save something for the DLC.

Rubber Soul is an album that when I listen to, I daze out a lot. I know "Drive My Car" is good, and knowing the album will be made available as full album DLC is a comforting thought.

Revolver is probably my favorite Beatles album, and with good reason. And I'll be honest, besides "She Said She Said", they are representing it pretty damn good. Hopefully it'll be made available as DLC later, incredibly good album and they did a great representation of it.

I think they represented Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band spot on too. "Getting Better" is my personal favorite on the album, and it was great to see it on the setlist so I can play it day 1. The title track and "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" were no brainers, so it's great to see them in here.

While I'm not surprised to see Magical Mystery Tour represented more, I am excited to see "Hello Goodbye" on the setlist. It seemed like an obvious pick (but so was Help!), and I'm glad to see it confirmed.

I've never really gotten all the fuss over The White Album and it's actually my least favorite album. I am excited for the tracks they included on there, save for "Dear Prudence". I understand it's popular, but I'm just personally not a fan of the song.

Yellow Submarine has "Hey Bulldog". I think that speaks for itself.

While Abbey Road is a great album, it's a shame seeing it so heavily represented when we know it's the first full album DLC, but albums such as the Help! album are far underrepresented. They picked the hits off of it and they seem like good songs (but I love the album as a whole), but I just wish they would've excluded one or two songs in place of another.

Let It Be seems represented fairly well, but excluding the biggest hit off the album is a bummer, but at the same time not a shocker. It's not guitar-heavy (but it does have all the instruments), but other than that I'm pleased with the selection.

No matter what you did with the Singles they chose, I would be disappointed. Now don't get me wrong, I am very happy with those songs and most of those are obvious, but there are a lot of other great singles too such as "Hey Jude"(although it might not translate too good in game, it's the song that everyone knows by The Beatles), "We Can Work it Out", "From Me To You", "She Loves You", "Lady Madonna", the list goes on and on but that's more of the fact that there are so many great Beatles singles it's hard to, well, single out just a few to put in the game. I'm grateful for DLC though as I'm sure we'll see most of these as DLC, but for now I'm going to have to try and explain to my friends that "Hey Jude" isn't on-disk.

Overall I'm pleased with the setlist as a whole, and there's no way to please everyone. Try narrowing The Beatles' massive catalog to 45 songs, there will be a lot of difficulty doing so. I'm just excited for the DLC and to find out what that last song is, although it's rumored to be:

All in all this will be a good game, and I have strong faith in Harmonix to deliver the missing songs as "DLC".

re: Full setlist revealed! ...Save for one song?

As good as the line-up is, there are quite a few glaring omissions.....

Penny Lane
A Day In The Life
She Said She Said
Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Blackbird
Rain
Girl
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
All You Need Is Love
Norwegian Wood
Yesterday
Nowhere Man
Across The Universe

They should've put in more songs than 45....Still, they wouldn't be able to fleece us with DLC then would they.

The bolded ones have already been confirmed as DLC and I'm sure we'll see all of these as DLC down the line. I predict the next album will be Help!, some glaring omissions from it (Yesterday, Help!, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, etc.) and after it "Revolver" or "Let It Be". I think they're trying to get the entire discography, but they won't guarantee anything until they know they can do it (they don't want another Who's Next incident).

I do agree with those omissions, and it's a shame, but I've come to realize no matter what they did with this setlist, I wouldn't have been 100% satisfied with it. But with DLC, I can be quite happy with it.

Thats good news.

Another one I missed out was 'Its All Too Much' from Yellow Submarine, quite possibly my favourite song. Any news on Yellow Submarine DLC?

No, but I would feel a lot more comfortable about it seeing as 'Hey Bulldog' is on disc. They may release the other "strictly Beatles" tracks later on as a track pack or something along those lines.
