I have played through to the end of the game (PC Version) and Meryl gives me a bandanna when we get on the snowmobile. I have read that I am supposed to be able to save the game and then start a new game with the bandanna and this would give me unlimited ammo when it is equipped. I have no clue how to do this. Everytime I hit the ESC key to save the game at the very end, the game just keeps skipping the movie sequences all the way to the start menu. I can not save the game. Please help me!!!

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I must have been playing the game at the easy level. It won't give you anything at that setting. Once I played through on the normal setting, I got the bandanna that gives unlimited ammo. I then beat the game again and got the stealth suit. (I did have to submit to the torture to get that ending. I hated to do it, but I wanted that stealth suit!)
Now when I play the game I get to wear a tuxedo. Cool game!

That's very weird. You can actually get the Bandanna on Easy difficulty on the PC version of MGS. Maybe it's your version of the game?
