No One Left Behind *MASSIVELY HUGE SPOILERS, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T BEATEN THE GAME!* - Page 3

Just finished my first playthrough, thought the whole concept of the last mission was very cool, even though I lost the majority of my squad because I forgot to upgrade the Normandy :/

First off Jack got lasered, Legion got blown up and Thane got skewered on the ship so that wasn't too great. Wasn't massively attached to Jack or Legion, but was pissed that Thane died.

When I got there, I used Tali as the tech specialist, just cos she came to mind as a good hacker and Legion was dead. Told Zaeed to lead the second squad cos of his military experience. Picked Samara and Garrus in my party. Lost Tali when trying to shut the doors, got headshotted by some Collector which was fairly frustrating.

Next I used Jack to protect with the biotic shield, as I wanted Samara in my squad again and I felt like he hadn't done much in the story . Miranda led the other squad, and Garrus was the second member of my squad. Just as I thought we made it through that part with no casualties, Garrus gets carried off by the *bleep*ing swarm which I was majorly pissed about. Oh and I told Zaeed to evacuate the crew, but he died doing so but he was a *bleep* so I didn't really care.

For the final fight I used Mordin and Grunt, as I felt I needed more firepower rather than biotics, and it worked a treat. I wish I used them through the rest of the game, first time I'd used them outside of their loyalty missions. My team survived, Miranda got killed holding the Collectors off and I blew the bastard ship sky high.

All in all I lost a crap load of my squad, partly because I didn't upgrade my ship and partly because I didn't read any guides on how to keep them all alive, just incase I saw a spoiler. So Miranda, Jack, Thane, Legion, Zaeed, Garrus and Tali all died for me only Miranda wasn't loyal out of those, because I sided with Jack in the argument and didn't really realise how important that dialogue was to the story. Wish I sided with Miranda now, didn't really give a shit about Jack. Never got enough Paragon to resolve my disagreement with Miranda, even though I had well over 90% Paragon.

Only real regret is that Garrus died. Man he was probably my favourite squad member, such a shitty death too just getting carried off by the swarm. Still fun though, probably the first game I've ever owned that I intend to replay through.

Actually the more important question is do any achievements rest on this decision ?

I blew the place to hell too.
I'm currently playing through ME1 again as a renegade as I only had my paragon character.
I'm going to keep the base when I get to ME2.

I have that "Council will twiddle their thumbs either way" feeling.

What I think will turn out to be the most interesting part of that decision is The Illusive Man. One ending he likes you, the other he hates you (and if you brought her, fires Miranda more or less). I'm wondering if his allegiance will depend on that for ME3.

I have two final save files planned, Paragon + Boom, Paragon + Saved it. Without knowing anything about ME3 yet, I'm not sure which decision I'll end up liking more.

After the suicide mission you end up back on the Normandy with whatever squad mates are still alive, so yeah you can continue. Probably because they're saying there'll be lots of DLC.

Welcome to Neo btw Dizzy, red ring means loyal yeah. There are a couple of ways to talk people into loyalty if you've fallen out with them I believe, but they involve high paragon or maybe renegade scores to give you the options during the conversation.
I remember I convinced Miranda I only sided with Jack to keep her sweet for the mission. No idea whether you can go and do this after the end though
