Capcom Vancouver, the studio behind Dead Rising 2, has trimmed its workforce by seven percent today.
News of layoffs came from the developer's official Twitter page, of all places, following several tweets proclaiming they were hiring new talent. Confused? Here is their explanation, summarized in two consecutive posts:
Capcom Vancouver has let go 7% of our employees as a result of unsuitable fit with the studio goals. (cont'd)
We’re still growing and aggressively seeking great talent.
Capcom Vancouver is actually the former Blue Castle Games, founded back in 2005. They were renamed after being acquired by Capcom in 2010. Between 2007 and 2009, they worked on several titles for 2K Sports.
In addition to Dead Rising 2, the studio also developed the downloadable episodes Case Zero, Case West, and the remake featuring Frank West, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.
