WWF '97: Montreal Screwjob? What Montreal Screwjob!? - *Monday Night Raw Preview Posted*
|
1997: Montreal Screwjob? What Montreal Screwjob!? • Wouldn't it have been great if the Montreal Screwjob had never happened, and all was well in the world of wrestling? Wouldn't it be great if Bret and Vince were still buddy-buddy? This diary will take you back in time, to see what could have happened if "Bret never screwed Bret". Well, we all know that it wasn't Bret that screwed Bret. It was Vince that screwed Vince. Before Kurt Angle came along, before Chris Benoit was ever really known, and before Samoa Joe even began his career in wrestling, Bret Hart was one of the top, if not the greatest, technical wrestler in the industry...

Now this looks like my kind of diary.
You've got yourself a reader and a guy to give you feedback right here. Good luck with this. I'll read this as often as I can as I do with Audiobank's TNA Diary.

Thanks. I'm glad you like it so far. I forgot about teams and stables, so I'll go edit that in, and probably get a preview for Shotgun up before I have to get off

quoteWWF Shotgun Preview -- July 1st, 1997
---
Though Shotgun is WWF's shortest running television program, we are going to start off with a *BANG*!
In the opening match of the night, we will kick things off with some good ol' tag team action, as The New Rockers, Leif Cassidy and Marty Jannetty take on two members of the Nation of Domination, JC Ice and Wolfie D, PG-13. Will PG-13 make an upset over The New Rockers?
Also, we will see the first match of the European Title Tournament! Jake "The Snake" Roberts will be taking on an unannounced opponent. How will Jake Roberts be able to prepare for this match?
In the main event of the night, we will see yet another European Title Tournament match as we see Hunter Hearst Helmsley put up against the dominating Diesel in a non-title match. Can Hunter pull of a win against Diesel, or will Diesel use his size to his advantage to get the 1-2-3?
Also, The Nation of Domination will be at Shotgun, as they start a search for a new member of this already dominant stable. Will Nation of Domination find their member? There's only one way to find out... watch WWF Shotgun this Saturday, only on the UPN Network!
Scheduled Matches --------
The New Rockers vs. PG-13
Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. ???? {European Title Tournament Rnd. 1}
Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Diesel {European Title Tournament Rnd. 1}

quoteWWF Shotgun - Saturday, July 1st, 1997
---
• Match One: The New Rockers vs. PG-13 As soon as the opening credits for Shotgun ended, the show immediately kicked off with some live action. The New Rockers, Leif Cassidy and Marty Jannetty took control early on, as they took turns working on Wolfie D. The more experienced tag team took advantage over this situation, as they continued to tag in and out repeatidly, never letting Wolfie D. tag out to JC Ice. Eventually, from behind the referee's back of course, Wolfie D was able to nail a low blow on Marty Jannetty, which gave Wolfie enough time to tag out. JC Ice took back control of the match for his time, as he was able to hit a Spinning Wheel Kick on Leif Cassidy for the win. 60 - 53 - 67
• Segment One Jake Roberts is seen backstage.
Jake Roberts: "God damn Vince... I can always count on Vince to throw a curveball at me, as he hides behind his little announce table on Monday Nights with JR. Guess what, Vince? I can hit a curveball! I can hit anything you throw at me. Wether if it is... handicap matches, mystery opponents, no matter what, I can shove it right back down your throat, old man!"
An aggravated Jake "The Snake" Roberts walked away, as he continued to prepare for his match. 81
• Match Two: Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. ???? (European Title Tournament - Round 1 Match) Jake "The Snake" Roberts is in the ring, waiting for his mystery opponent. Suddenly, the lights in the arena dim down, as orange strobe lights flash on and off.
BEAT ME IF YOU CAN... SURVIVE IF I LET YOU.
It, it... it's TAZ!
The crowd goes wild, as the match begins, with the ECW superstar looking impressive already, as Taz puts his nickname, "The Suplex Machine" to use. Taz delivers 5 different variations of a suplex to Jake Roberts. Taz continues to dominant this match, as he makes Jake "The Snake" Roberts tap out within just two minutes of the match beginning. As the bell rings, Taz holds onto the submission move, as he continues to choke out Jake Roberts. WWF officials and road agents run down to break it up, as Jake Roberts gets medical assistance. 70 - 68 - 72
• Segment Two We see all members of The Nation of Domination backstage in their locker room, examining various tapes of various wrestlers, WWF and free agents. 83
• Main Event: Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Diesel (European Title Tournament) The match began, and we saw the reigning IC champion, Hunter, show everybody just why he is the intercontinental champion, as he dominated Diesel for the first part of the match. After the 3 minute mark, Diesel began to make his comeback into the match, as he threw wild left and rights at Hunter before taking him down with a huge big boot. After the big boot, we saw Diesel dominate for a few minutes until Hunter pushed Diesel into the ref on purpose. Hunter went to the outside to get a steel chair, but he found Razor Ramon awaiting him. Razor kicked Hunter down, and throwed him back to the ring. Razor picked Hunter up for a Razor's Edge, but Diesel came by, and grabbed onto Hunter, as the two of them threw Hunter down at the same time, adding more power to the modified power bomb. Razor slapped the referee around a few times, as Diesel pinned Hunter for the win. Diesel and Razor Ramon taunted the fans and taunted Hunter, as the show went off the air. 61 - 50 - 71 --- quoteNews, Rumors, and Updates.
• Shotgun Is In Good Hopes! Even though Shotgun is WWF's shortest show at just a half hour long, is still getting good ratings with a 2.84 television rating, 5008 attendance level, and $200,320 off of sales tickets.
• Let's Get Rowdy! Rowdy Roddy Piper has just signed with the WWF, and will be arriving once his current contract with WCW expires in 90 days. The idea for Piper is to either work as a manager, and help bring up new talent into the business. Piper is a very over worker, but not with the wrestling skills to back it up. Currently the WWF is banking on Piper's popularity to help younger stars succeed.
• The Search Continues The Nation of Domination is still in search for a new member to join the Nation of Domination. So far, the following people are rumored to have been talked over about making an addition to the NoD: Rocky Maivia, New Jack, and a few others.
• The European Title Tournament This tournament will consist of 7 round one matches, where the three finalists will face off in a triple threat match at Canadian Stampede, WWF's next PPV.
• Corin-who? The word backstage is that the WWF board of directors are impressed with both Steve Corino's in-ring and mic skills... it is still unknown if Corino will sign yet or not.
• I will A.J. Styles you! Very impressed with what he can do, no doubt that A.J. Styles will be the perfect alternative to Chris Jericho... for the time being. A.J. Styles has been signed and sent down to USWA to work on charisma and overness.
• 5...4...3...2... Not yet. WWF board of directors are very impressed with Chris Jericho, and are at the top of their list right now. However, it is unknown when or if the WWF will ever get the chance to sign Jericho. If they do, it will cost them a pretty penny to take Jericho away from his home in WCW.
• Hardcore? Hardbore is more like it. ECW's Hardcore TV is trying to compete with WWF's Shotgun, but is being dominated in the ratings. quoteWWF PollsHow did you like the first show? 1. Great! 2. Good. 3. It was decent. 4. It sucked. 5. Where can I catch ECW Hardcore TV?
Who would you like to see in the European Title Tournament? 1. Rocky Maivia 2. British Bulldog 3. Gooooooldust! 4. Jerry Lawler 5. Owen Hart 6. Other

What did you think of Taz joining the WWF? Open-ended question.
Do you think Serebii can keep this diary open this time? 1. Yes! 2. No. 3. Sereb-who? This message was edited by Serebii on Jun 19 2006.

Great show there Serebii. Taz is on the scene bitch! And he's gonna be making even more of an impact hopefully. Along with the youngster AJ Styles! Hunter Hearst Helmsley lost? Ah well, you can't always win. Razor Ramon, another of my favourites was involved in the match so I'll give you made the match a little bit better, with HHH losing and all. Overall, 8.75/10 imo man, well done.
Also I forgot to mention about "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Although I ain't exactly a big fan of his, I guess he's gonna be helping you conquer WCW along with maybe bringing back Pipers Pit maybe? Good luck with it anyway.
Edit: You edited the post... lol...

quoteWWF Superstars Preview
This week on Superstars, we will see the WWF European Title Tournament continue, as Jesse James takes on Bart Gunn. The fan favorite, Jesse James, will have the crowd on his side... but will he be able to get the push he's looking for by defeating Bart Gunn?
Nation of Domination member, Crush, will also be in action this Sunday night as he goes one-on-one in hardcore action against Aldo Montoya. Can Crush pick up the win without the Nation of Domination by his side, or will Aldo Montoya prove everyone wrong, and pick up a victory over Crush?
Also in action, we will see the monster Vader with James Cornette in his corner as he goes one-on-one with another brawler himself, Savio Vega. Will Savio Vega be able to stop Vader in his tracks?
Jake "The Snake" Roberts will also be in attendance, as he looks to confront Mr. McMahon this week on Superstars. Will Mr. McMahon show up? And just what does Jake Roberts have planned?
In the main event of the night, we will see yet another European Title Tournament round one match, as Flash Funk goes one-on-one with none other than Brian Pillman. Still being in a tag team with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, can Pillman advance in the tournament, with the chance to possibly capture his first singles title in the WWF? Or will Flash Funk stop Pillman before he has a chance to anything? Well, there is only one way to find out. Make sure to tune into WWF Superstars, LIVE, every Sunday night at 7 PM eastern, only on the USA Network!
Scheduled Matches
Hardcore Match Crush vs. Aldo Montoya
European Title Tournament Round 1 Match Jesse James vs. Bart Gunn
Vader vs. Savio Vega

quoteWWF Superstars - Sunday July 2nd, 1997
• Segement One As Sunday Night Superstars opens up, it fades to the backstage area, where we see Jake "The Snake" Roberts walking into the arena, with his bags hung over his shoulder. Jake stops, and he looks around, and he gives off a cocky grin before he makes his way to his locker room. 78
• Match One: Crush vs. Aldo Montoya Crush starts the match off strong, as he toys with Aldo Montoya, over-looking Montoya. Crush dominates the first half of the match-up, until an overly-cocky Crush backfires, as Aldo Montoya begins to fight back, catching the larger man off guard. As Aldo Montoya gains up momentum, fellow Nation of Domination member, Wolfie D, rushes out from the back as he runs to the ring. Wolfie D slides a steel pipe into the ring, as Wolfie gets up onto the ring apron to distract the referee. Crush goes to hit Aldo, but Aldo ducks it, as he pushes Crush into Wolfie. As Crush bounces back, Aldo rolls him up for the win. After the match is over, Crush and Wolfie confront one another, arguing about who's fault in the result of this match. As they argue, Aldo Montoya escapes to the stage, where he celebrates his victory. 66 - 62 - 70
• Segment Two Jesse James is seen backstage, as the fans cheer for him.
Jesse James: "Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, it is time, for the one, the only, thee Jesse James to go one-on-one with Bart Gunn, in another European Title Tournament round one match-up. You see, this round one match will not be like any other round one match. Me and, well, I don't know about Bart, but I'm going to go out there, and I'm going to steal the show... just like I always do!"
Jesse James than walks off, as he continues to prepare for his match up next. 71
•Match Two: European Title Tournament Round 1 Match Jesse James vs. Bart Gunn The match kicks off, and as it does, Bart Gunn catches Jesse James off guard as he goes straight for the knee of James. Gunn works on the knee for a long while, than he trys to begin to weaken James up in other areas, but James fires away, battling for the opportunity to face off for the European Championship. The fans really get behind Jesse James, as he hits a "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" on Bart Gunn. Gunn gets back up, only to get kicked for his troubles, as Jesse James nails him with the Stretch Armstrong. The fans cheer, as James covers Gunn for the victory. James climbs to the second ropes, as he celebrates his round one victory over Bart Gunn. 58 - 50 - 66
• Match Two: Hardcore Match Vader vs. Savio Vega The two brawlers begin things off equally, exchanging several punches, kicks, and chops. Savio Vega hits the first pure-wrestling move of the match, as he somehow lifts the large man up for a suplex. Just that suplex alone gave Savio the momentum to take control of the match, but not for long, as Vader took over the match. Vader nailed a large leg drop on Savio, and after that, a furious Vader goes out to get a steel chair. Vader goes to hit Savio with the chair, but Savio reverses momentum as he nails the chair right back in Vader's face with a devastating big boot. Vader's out cold, as Savio pins for the win. 73 - 73 - 74
• Segment Three Jake "The Snake" Roberts is seen backstage, looking around the arena for Vince, but Vince is nowhere to be seen.
Jake Roberts: "C'mon, Vince, you damned coward! I know you're in this building somewhere. When I find you, believe me Vince, I will make sure you never messed with Jake 'The Snake'."
Jake Roberts continues to search for Vince McMahon, as the scene fades. 73
• Main Event & Segment Four: European Title Tournament Round 1 Match Flash Funk vs. Brian Pillman Both men start this match on a high note, as they go for the same moves on one another, but each move fails. Flash Funk finally gets the advantage as he nails Pillman with a standing dropkick. A very quick-paced match from both men, neither get a large advantage over the other. Near the end, Flash Funk was up on the top rope, where he went for a moonsault, but Brian Pillman got the knees up and turned things around on Funk. Brian Pillman climbed to the top rope this time, as he leaped off, nailing the Air Pillman on Funk for the victory. The crowd went crazy as Pillman got to his feet, as he celebrated his victory. 76 - 68 - 85
Suddenly..."No Chance..." The chairman himself, Vince McMahon made his way to the ring, interrupting Pillman's victory celebration. Vince struts his way to the ring, and as he gets in, the ring announcer immediately gives a microphone to Vince McMahon as his music fades.
Vince McMahon: "Congratulations, Brian. But you may leave now. I have something to address to the public."
Brian Pillman and Vince McMahon shake hands, as Brian exits the ring.
Vince McMahon: "Now, as you all know, I am a busy... busy man. With 'other' things going on in my personal life, and being the genetic jackhammer that I am, I feel as if I need to... well, I need to take some time off. Now, however, there will be a new figure of authority around here to keep things in order while I am away. So therefore, tomorrow night at Monday Night Raw, I will be introducing the newest authority figure of..."
Suddenly, Vince is cut off, as Jake Roberts runs up from behind, attacking Vince. Jake begins to stomp a mud-hole in Vince, as Jake grabs the microphone, and cracks it over Vince's head, knocking him out, as well as making him bleed.
Jake Roberts: "What's the matter, Vince? When things around here start to get tough, you tuck your tail between your legs, and let someone else handle your dirty work. Well not this time. If you are going to go away, Vince, I am going to make sure you go away for good!"
Jake Roberts drops the microphone as the fans boo, as Superstars goes off the air.
---
Quick Results
Aldo Montoya def. Crush in a hardcore match.
Jesse James def. Bart Gunn to advance in the European Title Tournament.
Savio Vega def. Vader.
Brian Pillman def. Flash Funk to advance in the European Title Tournament. --- Just a small note: Aldo Montoya is actually Justin Credible, incase someone didn't know. Obviously, there will be a name change in the future, but I don't want to give anything else away. All I can say is that I have plans for him.
Monday Night Raw preview will be up sometime tonight.
