You know me - I love debating that stuff! ^_~ Although 'feedback' is probably more of an appropriate word, it all means the same thing in the long run. *nods* But really it seems like things are going pretty swimingly around here. My thanks to VeG for cleaning up the little mess we had a few days ago - of course my little miss know it all pants couldn't help but get involved, even if I could tell they were here just to stir up trouble, so my apologies for not being able to zip it, but my thanks for taking care of it in such a professional manner. Also I like the Trivia thread you have started recently! I think that will be great fun - I'll be watching it for something I know the answer to, so I can get involved! ^___^

We had an Anime Reviews thread for a while, but it wasn't very well managed.... if I recall correctly there was no real template for doing reviews and there was some fussing going on... apologies if I'm confusing it with something else.....
But yeah - even the Music forum has a featured artist of the Week.... perhaps we could pick a different anime each month to spotlight, kind of along the same lines, where the thread regarding it get stickied?

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind lending a hand!
Are you looking for it to be a "recommended" thread like the one in Loungin' is, or would you rather do a monthly spotlight?
I think either way a loose template could be worked up to give people an idea of what would be expected if they wanted to either post a title, or if we do a monthly type thing, it would be more like nominations?

Well intially, I was thinking of doing the sticky thread thing (like the Music Forum does), but after looking through that thread from Loungin that Tenken posted, I see exactly what he was talking about, and what you liked about it, from your last post, and I agree that that general formula, of course tweaked better for our purposes, would be great.
And you are probably right - once every two weeks to start and get our feet wet and then possibly ramping it up to more often and possibly more open to posting from other (pre-screened) members would work the best.
SO yeah, I'm totally on board with helping out! ^___^ I think it sounds like a great idea!
Edit: Oh and I vote to just go ahead with the Halloween one..... they have Halloween candy in the aisles at the Supermarket already anyways....

Well, after a bit of discussion with Solitaire and Tenken, we decided to go with a rather well known series that may be being overlooked by the newer generation of anime fans that may be attracted to the forum by Naruto or Bleach. If you think about it, Cowboy Bebop is already almost 10 years old....
Another reason is to get our feet wet with the set up of the thread, with something we were comfortable with.... ^___^
As for the shorter version of the description, I did not want to give too much away, because honestly why bother watching it when you know everything? Plus each character's profile gave a little taste of what was going on in the show too, I feel.
However I will try to give a paragraph or two more the next time I write one up! As for using one from ANN - I don't think we will be doing that, as the whole point is to write it ourselves and give a fresh perspective when we can, than just copy and pasting from somewhere else.
Thanks for the input! It's very much appreciated!

There are also five Cowboy Bebop manga that were done after the anime was made, and are just side stories, with no connection to the main storyline. Since we were focusing on the anime, I only mentioned the manga in passing, since they were done after the anime, and actually have no bearing on the title itself and are only side stories that don't effect the anime or the movie. Speaking of which I think I'll edit in a blurb about the movie at some point....

We figured we would do a few posts, see what people thought of it, if people were liking it by the feedback in this thread, if people came here with good ideas, etc... basically there is no time frame, but that only because the spotlight thread is in it's baby stages. From the conversations I have had with Tenken and Solitaire, it seems we are in agreement that we would like to get it to a point where we have done enough posts so that it is clear what is expected of a submission, and then we will start thinking about accepting them from others. Stay tuned because eventually we will be allowing others to do posts, we just want to keep a level of quality control. Oh and thanks!

Yeah, we know. Tenken was supposed to be doing it, but he had a computer crash and lost his work at the end of last week, and that left both me and Solitaire scrambling to do something. I am trying to get something together once my allergies and migraines allow me to.... -_-

Please don't think I was being mean, as that was not my intent, I just have to make it clear that we don't allow that topic, as Neoseeker seeks to have good relationships with it's sister industries and it would be no good to have ADV, Geneon, etc pissed off with them, due to allowing the forum to be used for such discussion, ya know? ^__^

Nice job Turkagent!!! ^___^ So glad to see another Spotlight up!
Solitaire if you want, maybe you and I could start work on one for Gonzo Studios? It could be our first spotlight on something other than a title and I am especially inspired after watching the first DVD of Hellsing last night. XD
Not putting a time limit on it, but I thought maybe if we started collecting some info? Just a thought.....

And yes - it IS ambitious, and I don't think we will be able to cover everything they have ever done, but I figure if we cover the "most popular" and maybe you would like to spotlight a few of SA's favorites, if you recall them?

I'm not really sure how to ask this...
But I was wondering if I could make a thread centered around Horror Manga. ((One missed Call/ Ju-On/ Ringu/ ect.)) Or would it just be better to create separate threads and such? The spot light could be shifted from title to title every month or so.... And it could clarify some things. I don't want to be rude, but some of the plots can be terribly confusing. I've read the stories over and over again, so I think I've got the gist of most of them... It would still be fun to see the other opinions though. So, would it be alright, or should I just drop the idea?

No problem at all - I think that you are best starting off with making threads by the title to begin with, as that it the general system we have going on here, then if you get good response on the different threads (Maybe start out with 2 or 3 of your fav titles?) then maybe we could make a thread discussing horror in general in manga and anime? Lord knows there is plenty of it! *was just watching Hellsing* But if you want it to center around just a few titles, you are probably better off sticking to their own threads. Of course that's not the final word on it, just speaking off the top of my head.

Well it seems Daisy's active again (at least, I've seen her posting around yesterday and today) so I think all we be peaceful once again.  I'm only half active. I moved yesterday to my new condo and everything is in boxes, including my computer. At work I have the internet, so I can jump on and do what I can, but I'm not 100% for a while to come still.

Sure, I don't see why not. ^___^ We actually have a cosplay thread - it's in the index in the third section under the mangas, so that is the appropriate place to ask for help looking for something. As for the debate on the Spotlight thread, our intention was to have spotlights fairly often, it's just been incredibly hard for myself and Solitaire to work on them with our schedules being so hectic. The best way to get a spotlight put up is to do the work - there are enough of them up now for you guys to know what we are looking for - and PM either myself or Solitaire for approval. I know she is planning on opening a thread to discuss the spotlight eventually, but for now, that is probably the best way to get a new spotlight put up. You can ask here or PM one of us for more info. As for which title gets spotlit, it doesn't really matter, because if you think it's good enough to do all the work involved, we will green light it - and if you personally don't like the current spotlight title, do something about it and type up your own spotlight for a title you DO like and perhaps that will get chosen next. While Solitaire and I encourage everyone to make contributions ali3n is right in that the Spotlight is intended to interest people into watching a series they may have passed on or never heard of, the lesser known yet wonderfully done titles.
FMA is a really well known and popular title, so while I won't out right say "no" to it, the spirit of the thread is to pick out something slightly less popular and give it a moment in the sunshine.

tallteen86, please take this with all due respect, but you seem to have made a few posts lately that seem to be.... well, kind of on the snarky side. I'm not sure what you are hoping to accomplish by talking to people like that, but it just makes people not want to listen to what you are saying, which might very well be some valid points. Perhaps you should reconsider how you are coming across when you re-read your posts before pressing submit? With that being said, the spotlights turned out to be a heck of a lot more work than we had realized at the onset. While I agree, that the terminology 'weekly' should be removed, I doubt very much there will be a "thread dump' subforum made for such a purpose, or even an anime spotlight subforum. The thread is already stickied and is already what was originally envisioned, and as Solitaire (and myself while I was here) have said, we/she was more than happy to have people submit spotlights, we/she just wanted people to use the ones currently there as a template and submit them, after checking with her about the title first. If you are concerned about it, I recommend asking to do a title and once you have an ok, go ahead and work up the spotlight, then we can have something new in there!
