I noticed that the index is quite a ways behind. Are you guys still planning to update it? I don't mind throwing some help every now and again.

Well I asked because in the header you said use the index.

Yea I think it'd be better to do it that way. I'd rather not throw more of my time to not watching anime.

I'm not a fan of indexes anymore either. I can't remember the last time I actually made use of one on Neo. Like you said, it's all in the search function. If it's there, it's there, and it's getting bumped.

Interviews sound fun.

In Loungin' you ask and have to be put on a waiting list. If you're chosen to be interviewed then you can choose your interviewer. In Dragonball you simply asked to be interviewed in the next available month, and the interview was conducted by the Mod.

I think a mix of these two would be good - because if it's the same interviewer every time I can see how it could get boring for you, or we'd just see the same old questions again; so it look like the interviewee was just filling out a questionaire rather than conducting an interview.

The Loungin' ones work really well because you find the interviewer and interviewee usually already know each other well, so can ask more broad questions. I tend to find interviews more interesting when it's not just the standard questions (eg. favourite anime?) but you also find out more about the member as a person (eg. how did you find Neoseeker? what do you do in real life? what are your major hobbies outside of anime?).

So if someone volunteered to be the interviewer for that particular person, that could be fine, as long as Mastix has a quick look a what kind of questions they're gonna ask and/or suggest more questions, just incase the interviewer runs out of things to ask after about three questions and it turns out a bit crap.

A fortnightly format could work I think. Monthly may be a bit too long to wait considering how fast the GD's are going atm.

Index does seem a bit useless now with search active but it would be nice to see the tagging system used to throw in genres for each show's thread. I don't really expect you to go through the entire forum's history for it but threads with current and recent acitivty could be done and then they would just be added on a "as needed" when threads are posted or gain activity.

Haha. Fair enough. In my defense, I did volunteer as a co-mod, so there's that. Still, you're right. Still my job. But about the genre thing, would an idea be to put the genre in the subtitle for the anime's thread? I think the search picks up on that, though I'm not sure.

I seem to be missing something. Is there a feature I can use to tag threads with genre info? I must have missed this.

That seems like a good idea. I just tested it by adding a manga tag to the One Piece thread, and it's fairly useful. As long as it's kept fairly limited in use, it should be good. I think a "airing" tag would be a particularly useful one.

GhostMember, I would actually love to do anime reviews. If anyone wants to write a starter review, I'll create a thread that will be stickied with that review as the first post. I might actually do one myself if I find one that inspires me.

But as a general idea guys, I'm thinking about creating a new "Rules" thread. As much as I like Solitaire's Rules & Thread index, I think it's time to update them with more specific guidelines on talking about fansubs and scanlations, more specific permissions on things you can do on the anime forum that members aren't used to, and generally updating policy. The current rules thread is in fact seven years old.

Why don't I just edit what we have, you say? Well, a few reasons. The first is that, well, they'd be my forum rules, and a lot of them might be different from Solitaire's. I don't think I should post them in her name.

The second is that I'm thinking about scrapping the Anime and Manga index. I think it's obsolete. It's not really... well... Useful? There's an amazing forum search box now that wasn't there seven years ago, or really even 2 years ago when Sol and I started the new index. I'd keep the popular topics index because I think that's still very relevant. We need that in general for keeping duplicate topics from arising (though I think within reason it should be encouraged to start new threads and discussion for some of those things). Talking to luffyluffy about it, she votes keep the entire index. So I'd like all of your input on that guys.

Even if I keep the thread index, the final reason is that I just think I want to draw attention to the fact that there are new rules. If I just edit the old rules thread, no one will really see the updates or pay attention. The current rules are a bit of a relic. Take the "no posting images" rule for example. Neoseeker allows you to embed videos now, and the rules prohibit posting images outside the anime image thread? XD I mean, that's just a little silly, right? Am I alone in thinking that? I don't know of anyone in this day and age that struggles with viewing the occasional image. That's not the only rule either. After talking with Redemption and the supers, it seems like it should be okay to post scans of the occasional manga page to support an argument in a thread or to show something you liked as long as you keep it to a page or two. Stuff like that used to be strictly prohibited, but general practice on other forums I've looked at to compare our rules have shown that this is just not how it's done. Even ANN allows this kind of thing in their forums, and they're subject to far more legal danger. A lot of the veterans here are conditioned to avoid posting certain things, and I want to get a fresh start and break free of that.

What do you guys think? I'm interested in hearing all of your opinions on this. Insanity Prevails, Eternal, Toast, Kratos, Enth E Nd, Kanon, Exile, and whoeverelse. (Don't feel offended if I didn't bomb you, I just put a few names down randomly.)
