At first I was going to pass on this because it didn't sound very appealing and looked like a .hack knockoff. Now while it still seems to be a bit of a .hack copy it's actually done a better job of it in a single episode which I thought was great. This is probably the one show I'm going to stick with the whole season.

Is Kleins voice actor the same as Tiger from TnB. Also that "cute" line was a bit out of place...

It's treading into territory that's already been...well...tread, and not reaching the standard that was previously met.

The music makes it feel detached from being a MMORPG style game with a Medieval Design, unless this changes in the next few episodes. Just feels like generic sound trackness to me. High tension string ensemble at the announcement really didn't make me feel the pressure of the situation. In fact sound track doesn't add to the environment at all.

Friggin design of the world of SAO is beautiful, but once more the music doesn't match it. It has this sort of dissonance going on between the environment and the music. Things must compliment each other to give you a full sense of the world and really draw out the feel of what the creators intended the world to feel like. A soundtrack is a powerful tool to further expressing the world within in anime after all.

I think I prefer the range and depth of the .hack series, the sound tracks, the way the world looks in game and in anime. It just feels like a 100% fantasy experience, while SAO feels like generic fantasy shounen anime. I just can't dig it. I'll give it another episode, but I can't see myself watching the rest of it if only for the sake of finishing it.

There is something about the way Yuki writes her music that makes it very remarkable for the content it is a part of. I know when I listen to Sprinter, or was it Oblivious, the first thing I picture in my head is the looping style of strikes and movement of Shiki's fighting. Or when I hear Aura Dark version I feel the ominous pull of smething wiked and just not right.

This music just felt like generic orchestra track in comparison in my opinion, and failed to bring that same vibe.

Tiger go Meow, why did you post as a guest? Anyway I totally agree there. Not even close to the same level of beauty and integration of the music. Oblivious and Aura were incredible tracks, I'd say some of Yuki Kajiura's best work. I have no counter to that. I said from the beginning I thought sign was better. I just thought the music didn't *detract* from the experience this time. It was merely okay.

Grevous, .hack//sign was my first anime, and it's really what got me into the medium. Nostalgia goggles may be blinding me here, but I love that show. I'd argue it's damn good independent of that, but I'm just giving you some context. I'm not convinced Sword Art can capture the atmosphere and world better. Not so far. So far all its got going for it is a step up in frame rate. Not that its bad.
