He's fat, he doesn't trust anyone and thinks they're going to betray him; he's a loser and he has no confidence. To top it off, he engages in escapism and pushes people away even though they see good in him and want to help. This makes him a generally unlikable character. Sure, some characters show sympathy for him, but most (including us, the audience) probably won't. 	Well, it seems this is where we will disagree. I can't see it any other way than the writers trying to make him a sympathetic character, and it felt forced. Perhaps I'm concentrating too much on the friend situation. 	Well, I mean, there should be a part of you that sympathizes. As in, you have to understand that the reason he's got such a distasteful personality, is because he's been treated so poorly as a result of his bad looks and uncommon interests. With that comes the haunting fear that your friends are only friends out of pity for you. I mean, that should make you feel sorry for the guy even if you don't like him. I know a few characters like him in real life. Don't you? I also know I've tried to befriend them out of pity before. 	I'm not what you would call a people person. I never interacted with people unless I had to, so I only made friends through friends. So no, I've never talked to people like Protag. 	Yeah, Haruyuki is not supposed to be a protagonist that makes you want to follow him. Personally, I find him somewhat relatable, but it's really his character development and the times that he just puts his foot down and stands up for himself that make him shine.

	I quite like protag myself. I mean, I can't really feel too sorry but I can see why he is the way he is, and the potential for character development is very promising. I have to admit I do love it when a character starts off really pathetic and then has a bad-ass moment. I also don't see his character design as a big deal. I stopped noticing it after about a minute. Fat students in Anime tend to look really grotesque, and Haru's design is at least "alright". ------------------- [DanMorrisonAnimation]
