Mas, it's not particularly "individual character design" that I meant by character art, but things like anatomy and stuff. If you look at some close-ups of characters you can really see detail in the muscles, shading on finger joints, frown wrinkles around the eyes, and stuff like that. Kubo can do a lot of detail sometimes that a lot of Manga-ka either don't do or don't pull off as successfully.

And yeah Loly was shown to have survived thanks to an arrow shot by Ishida. Don't remember Menoly surviving though.

Finally we have content worth animating and the anime has been cancelled.

Where the hell is Rukia in all of this? People can can praise Kubo all they want for this new arc but it will remain boring in my eyes if I don't se more of Rukia.

Quite a decent chapter this week, though Kubo seriously needs to give the comedic moments a rest - they are rarely funny and kill any serious vibe that's going on at the time. How can he give Ichigo a decent fight? If Ichigo goes around one-shotting everybody it would be boring. Aizen created some sort of massive explosion resulting in a mushroom cloud before Ichigo wiped the floor with him, so for anybody to give him a challenge would mean destruction on a scale far greater than that by ordinary Quincy that have come out of nowhere - guys that shouldn't be any more powerful than a captain. You know, unless Kubo wants to ignore previous plot devices, continuity, and established power levels; i.e. things that he's frequently contradicted in the past.


Bleach, a manga rooted in the supernatural, has reached a point where nothing is plausible. That's some serious suckage. Despite that, it still has potential as a generic, brutal action manga, which is enjoyable in itself. I feel confused.

If you're looking forward to Bleach, then I suggest you set it down and remind yourself. Kubo is writing this.
Best case scenario they're knocked into a building during the final battle and never heard from again.

Go in expecting nothing. You will be hurt a lot less.

This chapter was a bit more interesting. Ichigo finally knows it is Quincies, and a little backstory for why their leader is hell bent on taking down the soul society. Looking forward to more information being revealed about the whole operation. Also, if I haven't said it yet, I'm loving the German references for the group. I learned English, then Spanish, then German, and Bleach is going in that order for the arcs it seems.

Oddly enough I was considering taking Russian next....

I do think it is pretty interesting though how Kubo at least incorporates different languages into Bleach. I bet if there is an arc with your native language in it (for those with one other than English) you feel pretty special, haha.
