General Anime Discussion XXI: Fight Otaking!

Greetings otaku, anime viewers, and casual fans. Welcome to the twenty-first installment of the General Anime Discussion thread.

This is the place for all those topics that cross-over all kinds of anime/manga and related items. To steal from Sol (bless her anime loving heart).

For those of you that don't know, this line is from Gainax's Otaku no Video, detailing the rise of the Otaking, King of Otaku, who is secretly the fictionalized form of Gainax's founder. The story is of a man who "only meant to stay a while" with anime, and ended up getting absorbed by it. Then, faced with those consequences, proudly accepts his otaku nature and decides to be the biggest otaku ever. With this in mind, watch Gainax's first ever anime (above), and see how what they made there is a statement of their aim to take over the industry, and a love song to anime itself. Replace the word "Twilight" with "Anime" in the song, and you'll see what I mean.

This is the studio that made some of my favorite anime of all time, and I'm a huge Gainax fag. So this thread is dedicated to them and everything they've made. Thank you Gainax. Thanks for staying a company made for otaku, by otaku.

Tina Foster from Ai Yori Aoshi. Although she's a typical "American in anime", she is the bro-est woman ever. Even contends with Ami.
