Except that it wasn't. The UBW movie was terrible, but F/SN was not only accessible to newcomers, but a fairly faithful adaptation, except for the Caster filler arc taken from UBW.
That had to do that or else Caster and Assassin's roles in the anime would have been very minimal.
Spoiler:VN Spoilers
Because in the Fate path, Caster makes a random attack on the Emiya house and gets killed by Gil long before she actually does anything other than summon a bunch of skeletons and Assassin just flat out disappears offscreen after his initial battle with Saber. No explanation whatsoever.
Oh wait, why are we discussing FSN in FZ thread? D:
Nice third episode, even though they teased a battle there only to go "lolnope" and pull the credits up. And hey, we finally see Lancer in the actual events instead of just the credits. It only took 3 episodes to do it.

Would Assassin not disappear since Caster was no longer providing mana? Seems pretty simple to me.
noir lol doesn't that mean you'll be disappointed near the end of the anime?? love the guy but idk how long he'll last he's what makes zero so good for me lol, the rider in stay/night was trash compared to him
I quite liked this episode. Ride coming in at the end was boss, but overall the fights are, as expected, waaaay more exciting and, frankly, like a war, than they were in the F/SN anime. They are constantly filled with plots and intrigue. Kiritsugu's planning is a lot of fun to follow. Fight between Saber and Lancer was a bit predictable, but beautifully animated. I liked it.
