Welcome to the Anime Forum~!
We have revamped the rules just slightly so it can be up to date and applicable to our forum. Please take a gander to refresh yourself, or if you're new, get yourself acquainted to these rules!
PLEASE USE THE FORUM SEARCH BOX AND THE THREAD INDEX TO CHECK IF A TOPIC HAS BEEN MADE BEFORE POSTING!
IT'S OKAY TO BUMP OLD THREADS!(mostly - see conditions below) There are actually three ways to search this forum! The search box (top of the forum), the thread index (being updated), and thread tags (click-able at the bottom of the forum). See more on this in the
Creating New Threads portion of the rules.
Forum Etiquette - Be nice!If you haven't already, you should go read the forum-wide
Rules of Conduct. It's a short page, but you'd do everyone in the community a service to run it over.
- Introduce yourself! If you're new to the place, come say "Hi" to everyone in the Introduction Thread. We'd love to know about you and your interest in anime!
- Do not talk shit about Akari Mizunashi.
- Don't spam! As already stated by the forum-wide rules, make sure your posts have a purpose and they contribute to discussion. Don't post meaningless one-liners with no content. Don't advertise other sites (always do what you can to keep members here, not somewhere else). Don't just post a pointless image or video. Just, in general, make sure your posts have some relevant content!
- Don't flame, and don't respond to flaming. If a member is being particularly abrasive toward you in their posts, do not reply in the same manner. You will be held equally accountable. If a member does flame you, there's a handy report button, and I check the reports regularly.
- Don't double post! Please Edit your previous post, don't make an entirely new one. Of course, there are exceptions. A good example is if a new chapter has been released for your favorite manga, but the thread hasn't been active for a week and you were the last to post. Then, by all means, bump it. If you aren't sure, pm me.
- Don't post sexually explicit or graphic content! Keep it as SFW as possible. The line is tough to draw, but it's there. Ecchi content and gore, if you do post it, should be contained in a spoiler tag and properly marked!
- Respect those with different opinions on anime and manga. I'd like all of you to make an effort to be tolerant of other people's preferences and likes, even if you think their tastes are terrible. You can criticize, but not attack. I trust you all to know the difference.
- Please do not, for example, go into a new anime thread and criticize the life out of it. The anime threads are primarily for those who are enjoying the series, and coming in solely to criticize is discouraging to other members. It's okay to state your opinion and critique, but remember not to overdo it.
- Respect those who are less well-versed in anime and manga. This forum is for both casual and hard core fans. We should be able to mingle politely. I don't want to see members being shouted at for having not watched what someone deems a must.
- Use spoiler tags! This is incredibly important. Spoiler tags are easy to do, and they spare other members the grief of having the ending of their anime ruined just because they wanted to go talk about it here. If you aren't sure whether or not what your posting is a spoiler, put it in tags anyway.
Don't Advertise Illegal Anime and Manga [Important]DO NOT REQUEST OR LINK TO SOURCES OF ILLEGAL ANIME & MANGA. I cannot stress this enough. Neoseeker is a sponsored site, and cannot afford to be held accountable for becoming an illegal distribution hub. These are the same rules other anime forums like ANN follow.
What
is permissible, with regards to illegal content you ask? You can...
- post a page of a manga chapter every so often to illustrate a point or to provide context for your thoughts. Just remember to keep it to a page or two, preferably less. Do NOT use this place to host a whole manga.
- talk about how horrible/awesome/funny that last fansub you checked out was. Again, don't link to the group, and don't directly encourage people to seek it out! (I know this is a fuzzy line, but I know you guys can use discretion.)
- post video clips or screencaps you find as long as the content does not violate Neoseeker rules. (Remember we have young members!)
Creating New Threads & BumpingLike I mentioned at the top of this post in large friendly letters, before creating a thread, please use the features I listed to check if the topic has already been made. If it's been made before,
and if the topic is still relevant, feel free to post in it. I expect you to exercise discretion yet again, as it should be obvious when some threads should not be bumped, like in the case where a user who is no longer active has made a request 7 years ago. Use common sense. Again, if you aren't sure,
pm me. I'm always happy to help.
If you create a thread for an anime, there are two helpful things you can do to make sure it doesn't get lost in the void:
- PM Animalover all of the info you have in the format you see outlined in the first post of the New Anime Index. This will contain a link to your thread, and also a summary of the anime that might get people interested.
- Tag the thread you created with the genres the anime falls under. Underneath the text box where you write your post, there's a box labeled "Tags: (optional)" in which you can write the genres of your anime. If the anime is a comedy, users will be able to click "comedy" at the bottom of the forum page and get all thread results for anime with that tag.
So now that you're up to speed on all things Anime Forum, go forth and join in the discussion! Get talking about anime in the
General Anime Discussion, or manga in the
General Manga Discussion.
Have questions about anime? Head over to the
Q&A!
Finally, both myself and
Animalover are open to any suggestions you may have, so feel free to send us a pm or post in the
Forum Feedback thread if you want to see something done in the forum!
See you around~.
