Medal of Honor on the way! [ 6 Comments ]
17:13 PST | joshpeckler | Print News After relaying the company's success in revitalizing the long-abused Need for Speed franchise with this year's well-received Need for Speed: Shift during this afternoon's Q2 conference call, EA Games label president Frank Gibeau revealed, "In the months ahead, you'll hear more about our plans to revitalize core IP, including the Medal of Honor franchise." The long-established war series – whose Allied Assault team led to the creation of Infinity Ward and the now dominant Call of Duty series at competitor Activision – has been absent since 2007's triple showing of the poorly received Medal of Honor: Airborne, the poorly received Medal of Honor: Hereos 2, and the even more poorly received Medal of Honor: Vanguard. Yeah, a reboot seems in order. if medal of honor comes out with a copy game and can make it better cod fans might turn

quote AREA_51That's a big IF. Nothing about the Medal of Honor series gives me any confidence in EA to make a game as good as MW2 I'll beleive it when I see it ------------------- quote Every ignorant dumbshit on Neoseeker

I highly doubt it. Your missing key facts. "Dominant COD series" and "Poorly Recieved MOH:Airborne". And like you said, their COD fans, i'm sure they'll stay loyal to the series. Also you said "A copy game", so i think the originals gonna be the game that comes out top.

Copy game.
So it'd be like WaW...but not even under Activision. Is this like Killzone? The self-proclaimed Halo Killer? ------------------- "... whereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them..." - Richard H. I'd rather use the game as target practice. I don't have much faith in the Medal of Honor series. It's kind of like most of the Call of Duty series. Kill a nazi, kill another nazi, throw a grenade at some nazis, knife a nazi, kill another nazi, die because of nazis. Sounds fun doesn't it?

EA fail so hard, though. So it's unlikely this will happen.

I absolutely adored the original MOH: Allied Assault and Spearhead, but every game they have made since has been sub par IMO. I personally thought that Pacific Assault (PC) was't too bad of a single player experience. Multiplayer however was shockingly bad.
I genuinely believe that EA can give activision a run for their money, but they'll have had to have upped their game a hell of a lot.

The only thing I liked from EA was the Def Jam series...and they effed that up with Icon.

EA's big game is obviously Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and that could lead to some good competition. Medal of Honour not so much it got really quite bad after it hit the PS2.

A Medal of Honour game couldn't take down CoD, I seriously think people are sick to death of World War 2 games. You can only shoot nazis enough times. Shouldn't they be extinct by now anyway?

TBH Any game can be claimed as a CoD killer. I'll believe it when I see it. In fact any half decent known shooter with online capabilities will no doubt be called a CoD killer.

I hope they do come up with something good because obviously the competition will bring out the best in both series, but I doubt IW's legions of admirers will desert them completely.
I hope EA might put a modern spin on the MOH series, I feel like another WW2 shooter, in spite of where it's set, will not be a purchase I hanker for immediately.

I highly doubt it. The only game which will knock CoD6 off the top spot will be Halo Reach, unless Halo 3 knocks it off before Reach comes out.
