Hi guys, ive been playing COD since the early days and have become decent on online play. My kill death ratio is awful but i often win games (esp on Headquarters) as im normally the first to the HQ.

However, i dont find myself to be consistent enough. Im not sure why. One game i will get 40 kills and max points, the next i could finish near the bottom with only a dozen kills or so.

Im not sure whether to blame my concentration or the fact im better on certain maps.

So what im really asking is, how do i make the step up from randomly good online player to consistently up at the top?
Any tips you can give me?

Yeh it is annoying! Im completely random.
Last night on Highrise HQ, i got 3900 points and 52 kills - 17 deaths.
An hour later, i was getting completely murdered on Favela. Dont know what im doing wrong!

Same thing happens with me 27-8, and then 5-13

I think it has to do with the people you are playing with, the map, and other things.

its because its too easy to get killed, and always get shot in the back

It's down to a bit of luck.

One game you could be on a great team on a map you like then the next time you are on a terrible team.

Earlier i got put with a rank 3 and a rank 13. I'm rank 18 I think. We were against a Rank 70 a Rank 53, a rank 33 and a rank 28. So sometimes the odds are stacked against you. In these cases I abandon teamwork after a little while if my team are poor, which they were, and go alone with an ultra defensive (bordering on paranoia) play style. If you are lucky enough to be on a great team against a crap team then you can revert to your natural play style and watch your K/D ratio increase nicely.

If it's a fair match then its down to you how you play but you will probably do well.

If you want more consistency then I would say you have to play a defensive game rather than an aggresive game. If you watch the aggresive players they will be up and down like a yo-yo. The other day some guy who was aggresive went 28-3 but in the next game went 13-16. I was chatting to him in the lobby and he said his K/D was 1.72. So this guy is obviously above average but also lacks any form of consistency.

Thanks for that reply mate. Yeh im thinking its just the different teams i get put in. When with a poorer team, i just try and do it on my own, hence getting killed a lot! Il give more conservative a go and see how i get on.
Getting used to new guns and maps aswell. Cant have terminal and highrise every time!
