First, before anyone can help, you need to answer a few specific questions.
I am to the understanding that you mean the Malboro in Mushroom Forest? There are a few strategies to beating this boss, however I will need to know what character race you chose, and what magic you have equipped as well as the other active items. With this information, I'll be able to assist you. XD -------------------

Malboro really isn't all that hard. He's probably the easiest boss in the game. All you really have to watch out for is his poison breath and Slow(ga). A Cure and/or Clear magicite will be quite useful. If you want offensive magicite, get Fire or Blizzard. Holy is a one-time spell you can use to inflict some good damage. The best time to attack Malboro is when he's inhaling air.
One last thing: take out his minions first. It makes things easier. -------------------

Yes, the Fire spell works really well.
However, if you are a Selkie, don't use it's special attack, because it launches you at the enemy, and when Malboro is trying to suck you in, that's bad! It's best to attack from a distance with Fire. -------------------

Pssh, I'm always a Selkie and Focus Attacks are perfectly fine. Anyways, you could always use something that shoots out stuff like the Aura Racket and Dual Shooter.
Malboro doesn't harm you if it sucks you in, you know. It just gives you less moving space after its done. -------------------

It uses the whippy vine things a lot near itself, so if you get sucked in, you're likely to be hit by them.
And I'm always a Selkie too. However, what we have to remember, is that this is only the second dungeon, and I don't think you can get a second weapon before going in there... -------------------

The tentacles hit away from it for me, I think. xD
No, you can pick up some stuff from River Belle Path and Mine of Cathuriges. :/ No ranged Selkie weapons, though. ...I need to start playing again. >.> -------------------

The Marlboro is easy it if you got the iron sword or the steel sword plus with the fire spell as a long distance magic attack.

You can beat the atleast the first year with the starting weapon, I had the starting weapon for half of year 2 aswell.
Fire attacks are good again the malboro but I always just use physical attacks. Always take out the minions first though. ------------------- ![]() PS: If anyone adds my Wii Number PM me.

Right off the bat take out the hellplants frist. The use holy on him, next fire and Focus Attacks , when you get low on hearts you can hide behind one of the big Mushrooms and use cure, and finnly when the hellplants reapper take them out.

granted that is useful but i find haste cast on my character and then attacking at close range and fira spells
(for this get used to switiching between haste and fira not firaga takes too long for this boss) anyways this works wonders ------------------- The power of the united heroes will keep evil at bay!
