Just skimmed through this, nice to see Kesh's and a few other stories in this Huz. A lot of time and effort when into this, mate.

Thanks for the mention, mate. I don't think I should get the story of the month because it's all but over. Good work again, Huzzer.

re: The Story Forum Blog
|
So, the nominations have been well.. nominated as the story forum heads to a close and the recognised writers and the legendary stories of the year have been recognised and the deadline for the votes is on the 23rd of August, so get your votes in. So what this blog will all be about is just generally running through the awards and nominations to remind you of the best stories of the year...
This awards is for the story that never got recognised in the Hall of Fame in the Story forum as one of the best in the Story of the Month awards. There have been plenty of great stories that never made it and there is plenty up for this award and that is the main reason why this award is an open choice vote.
Back in the olden days of 2007, Kingspur created the academy idea with his superb Academy. This idea has since cottoned on and in patches this year, the story forum has been awash with Academies but there were only room for just four academies. Stereo441's Best of British Academy included 15 hopefuls which spanned 22 pages and included the website style updates and was very successful. The second nomination for this award was HarriesCCFC11's Academy it was a very long running and successful academy which ran for four months and only recently collapsed but it was good whilst it was around. Once every now and again we get evolved academies for manager's and ginnypig's manager academy ran for 10 football manager seasons and was very easy on the eye and definitely should be considered in this category. Also, the final competitor for this award is TheOneAndOnlyHaha and his academy and ran for a good few months and re-opened a record times and is a deserved contender to this award.
Storylines are needed in some of the stories for the more able writers of this forum and the best of the best writers engineered their storylines. Successful You'll Never Walk Alone by ScouseLa won the April story of the month and his firm story ran for an immense amount of time. Legendary writer, Tweety Pie had already proven himself with his Crewe story in 2008 but he was Back to the Beginning with Crewe and another superb story from Tweety and it won him the March Story of the Month award. Killer iPod's Sly Crew is another firm story but this time based around Exeter City and took the idea of the academy story and included members. KingSpud7's Pepsi F.C Was a fun story to kick off the story forum and was up for the inaugural Story of the Month award but lost out to Burton Boy. Kesh's The Abused Child was one of the more successful stories of the year and it won him the May story of the month and it took one abused child and brought him into the footballing world.
As the story forum tailed off in the Summer the International story became more prominent and Pro King's Zimbabwe story was up for a few Story of the Month awards but was the perennial runner-up. Jz1's Republic of Ireland story is also up for the award as well as Sexondabeach's New Zealand story which was trumped to the Story of the Month award. AndyD_U's Malayan Tigers was a number of the lower country rising to the top International stories. Pompey1's Restoring my Pride is one of a number of successful stories and won the latest Story of the Month award in August and took the conception of international stories and managed the under-21's!
This category is for the best achievement made into a story and the first nomination is me with my AFC Wimbledon story, I'm not going to carp on about it though. Stereo441's legendary Belfast United story was one of the more successful stories and he took Belfast United up to the Championship before it was closed. Pro King's Zimbabwe story makes another appearance as he brought Zimbabwe to a World Cup and conquered Africa. Newcomer, NickGull's Unemployment based Rushden & Diamonds story saw him take Rushden up to the summit of League 1 before it was abruptly cut short.
The most innovative story is the award for the most different story but still based around Football Manager. The first nomination is me with BetNeo but as I said, not going to bang on about it. AndyD_U created his Eurovision Striking Contest was in my opinion one of the best stories on the forum and probably the best not to win the Story of the Month along with Skadoosh's Arsenal story. Burton Boy created great stories this year and his FC Bayern Sporting Ravers Story created some great results and got some user interaction going as usual. Huzzer's imaginative stories continued this year with The Road to South Africa which included the tracking of many countries on their path to World Cup glory. ViNCeNZo's Linnets story took King's Lynn on a journey on the story forum.
This award is for the best looking story across the board. There have been plenty this year that have been very easy on the eye. KurtisWalsh's Arsenal story was an easy on the eye story which included the ever popular Arsenal as it's main focus. The Believer's The Saints story was very successful and to add to that a very slick layout. As ever with a KingSpud7 story his Manchester United story mixed brilliant graphics and a brilliant colour scheme to create one of the best looking stories on the forum. Duracel's inaugural story, the Real Madrid story was a very good start and brilliant for a newcomer and the layout was simple yet great. Along with AndyD_U's Eurovision Striking Contest, Skadoosh's Arsenal story were the best stories not to win the Story of the Month award and Skadoosh was built up as a great writer this year with his Arsenal and Liverpool stories that were constantly in the awards throughout the year.
stereo441 – A new writer to the scene this year and his Best of British Academy kicked off his story career and his San Marino and Belfast United stories backed him up well. Jakeyd – I started the year off with a Story of the Month award with my United story and then BetNeo and AFC Wimbledon ended the year. Modiga – Just like stereo441, had three stories out this year and his Dennis Bergkamp and LA Galaxy stories didn't get the attention they deserved but his Journey Through Athens story is superb. Kesh – Kesh has created some of the best stories of the year and his Abused Child is still running to this day and got the May Story of the Month award. His Anonymous Twins story was good but shortlived. Pro King – He has dabbled with stories throughout the year but his third story with Zimbabwe was by far the best and should've won Story of the Month somewhere down the line.
Skadoosh – It took him a few stories to get going but his Arsenal story was a smash hit and his Golden Skies story was even more successful winning July's story of the month award. Killer iPod – This kid always brings out stories every year and has the talent of creating great layouts and wrapping them round great stories. The Believer – TB has been around for a long time creating stories and they usually include a great layout and writing ability which is present in most of his work. Pompey1 – He may have only created one story this year but it has sky rocketed straight to the Story of the Month award for August. Tweety Pie – As I said earlier in the blog, a legendary writer. His Crewe and Liverpool stories in 2008 were brilliant and his selection from this year include a Crewe and Napoli stories which were the most successful.
This award is the most prestigious in the sub-forum and eight contender's are up for the award, having being selected as the Story of the Month for their respective stories. Burton Boy kicked things off with his Neoseeker Athletic Which was once an academy but transformed in the longest running story ever and it even neared one hundred pages! I followed up Burton Boy with my Manchester United story. As included earlier in the blog, Tweety Pie's Back to the Beginning was the March story of the month winner which took his Crewe story in 08 and evolved it. ScouseLa's Liverpool firm story won him the April story of the month to grant him a place in the 2009 hall of fame. The Abused Child won Kesh a place in this category and the hall of fame 2009. Belfast United as explained earlier in the blog, stereo441's birth into the story forum was great and won him the June Story of the Month award. Golden Skies and Restoring My Pride were the Summer's hall of fame inductees which won the Story of the Month award and rightly in this category.
