re: 10.000 men??

You can fight with an army of 10,000 but only 16 units at a time. The remaining troops must come in as reinforcements. So, the claim is true but misleading.

re: 10.000 men??

Technically, with 8 players playing with 16 squads of 100 men each you can have 12800 men at once, even more if you edit stats to have more than 100 men in a squad.

re: 10.000 men??

You can have more than 3,000 Men per player on the field at one time.. But if there is 8 players then there could be over 24,000 Troops on the field!

re: 10.000 men??

how can you have more than 3k men under one player at a time? by the way, good units rarely come in divisions of a hudred, chivalric knights-40, royal knights-20, chivalric men at arms (the best heavy infantry of catholic factions and probably in the whole game, in my opinion) - 60. only spearmen whom i often use come in divisions of 100 men.

Josh - even Peasants come in 133 size units, so that just over 2,000 people? Over 3,000 - only if you have more than one army OR its a crusader army in which case one can oodles n oodles of little people rushing about - but only 16 on a battlefield at anyone time

re: 10.000 men??

well, theoretically, when playing on multiplayer or with multiple computers, you can have your army on the battle field, PLUS there will be armies of your allies and your enemes. try put the custom battle on 10 players, you - being one of them. computers being the others. you will fight something like 5v5, thus there might be over 10k people onn the battlefield. in the multiplayer, i think, there can be more than 5v5 player battles, but the server might just crash because of that, so i never tried.

re: 10.000 men??

You can have the Unit Size: Tiny, Small, normal, or huge (about that).

Meaning if you go to options and put the unit size to huge you can have 200 men in a army thats normally 100 units. (such as spearmen).

And 200 men per unit, 16 units. Thats 3,200 max for a player-- assuming they choose all units that are 200 men.

Now in a 4v4 game with huge armies and each playing selecting a unit that comes with 200 (for example, all swordsmen game) that would mean 3,200 units per player, and 8 players.

Thats 25,600 troops MAX. If you somehow manged this, your PC would crash and everyone would lag so badly that it would be unplayable.. Unless your billgates and have 8 PCS on lan with T500000000 and a 7GHZ PC or something. (you get the point)

But in Rome: Total war theres going to be a lot larger armies.

re: 10.000 men??

When you start the program, you will see an options menu. Seems to me that it is not in game options (where one might expect it), but under performance options.

re: 10.000 men??

Yep, its completely part of the game.

Its just turned to normal size armies because the averages persons PC can't handle larger armies on the screen. (each unit comes with 200 men instead of 100, basically twice the amount)

re: 10.000 men??

another question -- how do you divide units?
say, you have a unit of 200 men. how do you divide them into two units of 100 men each? and can you?

re: 10.000 men??

No, you can't. Not while in battle mode at least. (I think maybe on campaign screen, but not during a battle)

re: 10.000 men??

that......sucks.

by the way, in normal map you can only do this:
say, you have 2 units: 200 spearmen and 50 spearmen
you can give 150 spearmen from one unit to another one, but at the end you will still have two units, one with 50 people, the other with 200. that is very bad because i cannot divide them into 2 units of 125 men each, which is better than two units of unequal size.

That would also be very handy for filling castles & micromanaging your providence loyalty rating.
