Agreed. There are some things every now and then that are very obvious to me who have read the books, that they leave unexplained in the series and up to the watchers to guess as best as they can. Usually nothing major, but still.
Yes, all at Winterfell happened very quickly. Theon's men had no intention of being captured, and killed, trying to hold the castle when Bolton's men (Robb's bannermen who had Winterfell surrounded) broke through so they just ditched Theon instead. That could have been made more clear, but I guess they'll follow it up in the next season.
Another example, Snow killing Halfhand was a bit unclear in the series imo.
The series is never going to completely please those of us who have read the books but I will say that they have done an outstanding job with the series as a whole and that I can forgive most of the choices they've made with it. The books are better though.

That is always the case with series/movies that originated from written word. That's why I haven't read the books myself. When you read a book you picture the characters and the scenes in your mind and you have a certain image about them. It is spoiled for you no matter how good it is when the story is transported in a movie/series.

True but if you like Game Of Thrones then I would really recommend reading the books as they are incredible and it's gonna be 6 - 9 months before the next series is on anyway.
Martin believes the two last volumes of the series will be big books of 1500 manuscript pages each. With 200 finished pages by March 2012, Martin hopes to finish The Winds of Winter much faster than the fifth book. Martin has angered fans in the past for repeatedly estimating his publication dates too optimistically and therefore he has refrained from making hard estimates for The Winds of Winter's release date. A realistic estimation for finishing The Winds of Winter might be three years for him at a good pace, but ultimately the book "will be done when it's done". Martin does not intend to separate the characters geographically again but acknowledged that "Three years from when I'm sitting on 1,800 pages of manuscript with no end in sight, who the hell knows".
Toby what's the blonde one's name? And her Australian servant/sex tutor or whatever (she deserves a special mention). Even the queen woman who looks kind of like a slightly older Big Suze with lighter hair is decent. The base standard of the random whores is pretty good thus far as well. Btw I have no idea if these characters are recurring.
Just finished season 2. You can add Shae, the Tyrrell girl and Robb's 'friend' to that list as well.
Spoiler:
Btw the one I mentioned (in bold) before was the one locked in the safe with chubby Kwame Kwei Armah near the end of the last episode.
I heard many good things from my friends about it, so I'm just watching the very first episode now. Pretty scary introduction if you ask me. Especially the one that looked like a doll.

Enjoy the ride, probably my most favourite TV series ever

Watched the first episode (Gonna watch the second one today) last night and the ending was a massive WTF.
Spoiler:WTF
He pushes a kid out of a *bleep*ing window. What a dick. I know he's trying to keep him quiet but still.... I would have liked to see that kid developed a bit more, but I think he is dead.
And he had sex with his twin sister. OK. That alone is pretty weird in itself.
Just finally finished a Dance With Dragons. Feel a bit depressed, best books I've ever read, knowing that by the time I read the next book there'll probably have been 2-3 more TV series, *bleep*, not nice to think about.
Spoiler:thoughts
Jon Snow closest I've ever come to getting emotional over a book, yet again Ned Stark's children (apart from Arya and Bran) are just completely thick, could see it coming a mile off. Thought his disliking of Melisandre was a little undeveloped too, she was normally good to him
Varys' return is awesome, but it was a bit too obvious Kevan was going to die, he's used that technique too many times, give an existing character a POV chapter, especially with it being the last chapter as well
Barristan Selmy is the *bleep*ing man, my favourite character in there, just an absolute boss, his POV chapters were brilliant
Never thought I could dislike a character more than Joffrey, but Ramsay Bolton is just ridiculous (almost a bit too ridiculous, given Martin's views on good and evil), great job at making the reader sympathise with Theon though
Brienne!! bit annoying how she featured midway through the book, then just nothing thereafter. better not lead Jaime to death though
Cashis you were reading them yes? How far along are you?
I got to around halfway of the 2nd one and then numerous things happened that resulted in me not being able to finish it (PES2012 came out). I'll come back to it soon though, they're such good books it'd be a crime not to.
Just starting the fourth book myself; the end of Storm of Swords was just mental tbh, can't wait to see it on screen but will probably have to wait until season 4
