Forgot about Trainspotting, that definitely has to go in. Toy Story, it was good for what it was but I'd put Lion King over Toy Story on animated films. Not seen TS2 or La Haine.

In short, agree with you. Early 2000s have to be included. Some amazing films between 2000-2004. And for me 2006 has the most consistently great films.

I made some long ass point about the state of the film (and entertainment industry) still being in a post 9/11 lull and since then hasn't been able to break it despite bright spots here and there (though 2006 goes against that theory abit).

I compared it to wrestling which was also boomed 1996-2003 & I imagine other forms of entertainment were the same, everything just seemed in sync.

I then argued (as I did on Game of Thrones thread) that GOT might be the piece of work that breaks the lull and reinvigorates the TV & film industry in terms of intelligent storytelling and the way films are made over the next 10 years because of the way it's gone pretty mainstream that film begins to capitalize on that.
