If I'm going to do cardio I'd rather take a class than spend half an hour on a treadmill. It's a lot less boring to do, say, 45 mins of spin or boxercise or something, and you work yourself a lot harder than when its just you against yourself. I draw the line at Zumba though, I don't give a *bleep* what the ratios are.

2 6 hour shifts on rest days are killing my gains.

Now that I've finished work, I've got a lot more time to start going running again.

Randomly started doing those fitness games for the Xbox Kinect. Well I say games...more just the UFC personal trainer game. Bar the warm ups and warm downs, which have no variety at all and can be frustrating if you're doing a 2 minute exercise and then have to do the 10 minute warm up and down (happens on each exercise you do), I think it's really good. It's got my data recorded and stuff and tells me the exact optimal calories I should eat everyday and stuff.

Started to do it everyday now, aiming to do enough exercises to apparently burn off 400-600 calories each day, then about 200-300 calories on days which I'm doing karate.

You don't have to be 18 to go to most gyms. Near me there's a leisure centre doing a summer get active thing, 6 quid a week for 6 weeks, an you can go a much as you want to the gym, pool, sauna/steam room, exercise classes (ie. spin classes/boxercise blah blah). So look around on the internet for local gyms and see if they have any summer memberships.

Avoid saturated fats, and increase your protein intake, whilst maintaing a balanced diet.
