Okay, well it only just occured to me that this idea hadn't quite come to fruitition after it was mentioned in the RFS thread a while back, so i figured we could try it out and see how it goes. The rules must be adhered to, and anyone who disregards them will have their post deleted.

Anyways, the general concept of this thread is that a member posts a youtube video (not necessarily the acutal music video, as long as the audio track is there that's all that matters) of a song that they like or find interesting (or even hate). The member who posts next must listen to the full song and provide constructive comments about the track saying whether they liked it or disliked it and why before posting a video of their choice and so on and so forth (f you're still unsure check out the thread int he music forum here).

RULES

• You MUST listen to the entire song! If you strongly dislike the song and don't want to listen through it, don't post next.

• Intelligent comments only! Don't just give a blunt remark like "THIS SUX!!11! LULZ" or a quick comment like "Cool song". Put some thought into your posts to show that you listened. Try to explain why you like or hate the song or any other interesting points about it.

• No offensive videos! Remember that there are some young memebers who visit this forum on a regular basis, so anything deemed offensive will be removed.

• Please post no more than three videos per page! (per person). Don't try to use this thread just to increase post count and give other people a chance. If this isn't followed posts will be deleted and re-offenders banned.

• All the regular forum rules apply, so please keep this thread free of spam. Flaming will not be tolerated and try and keep the comments about the music and not personal.

HOW TO POST A YOUTUBE VIDEO

Okay, here is a quick guide on how to embed a youtube video in your posts for those who have never done this before. Basically, it involes the use of these handy tags:

Once you find your video on youtube, you must locate a certain part of the URL and place it inbetween the youtube tags seen above. The part of the URL required is the jumble of letters & numbers that come after the 'v=' section:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GYSei66Rh4

These random letters and numbers inserted into the youtube tags should look like this:

Using this this will result in your video being embedded in your post, and example can be seen below. Not that the code will be different for each video.

EDIT AT TOP TO MAKE THIS MORE NOTICABLE: Is it ok, say if someone talks about your video, to post something talking about it in reply? Providing it doesn't just turn into a talk about it, maybe 1 or 2 posts at the most sharing opinions on it? Or shall that be left for other threads?

Anyway. Alvin, that was a very...interesting song to say the least. The start of it with just the piano had an almost nostalgic feel to it, idk. I liked it. Then when the beat came in, it was a bit off putting, but not so much that I hated it. The random women moaning here and there made me laugh too. Then the softer bits where the piano came back in afterwards sounded a bit like a Linkin Park song, I can't think of which one though.

Not something I'd usually listen to, but I found it weirdly interesting nevertheless.


My turn, I won't put in my screaming stuff just yet. ;P



Btw, if anyone knows what that song before the actual songs plays it, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Love the pace of the song. The guitar sounds very good as do the fore and backing vocals. I feel the drum beat could be a bit more predominant.

When it got to 1min and the voice changed I was a bit disappointed, it didn't seem very good. Too screamy ish.

Do we have to listen to all of the songs in order before posting the next one, or do we just have to listen to the last one posted?

You must listen to the last song posted and comment on that, not all the songs that have been posted, so just the post above yours basically. You cna listen to all the songs if you want though, haha.

@PJS, yeah you can. I edited the rules a tad to change posts to videos, so if you want to say something about what someone else says about your video then go for it.

I remember listening to that in 2006 before WC... shame we got Portugal. Quite optimistic a song. Sure it goes a bit Coldplay near the end.

LOL, much better than I expected, and the chorus wasn't too bad tbh. Obviously not as good as Teen Spirit but a marked improvement upon Never Gonna Give You Up. Certainly doesn't ruin Teen Spirit as it could have done.

Considering no-one commented before:

I rather liked it, singing was quite good and I generally liked the tune and guitar. Wasn't crazy about the fidly guitar round the middle. The song got a little repetetive towards the end but overall was a good song.

Quite liked that, fairly different to what I listen to anyway. Felt really eery at first and then the vocals kicked in with an upbeat style, good song.

Sweeet! Mammal. I love this. Not heard too much of them, but this yet again impresses me. Their bassist is fantastic, and the guitarist has some pretty damn cool riffs.
They remind me of RATM, which is good cause I really liked them too.



Time for a bit of heavier stuff.

A very heavy toned type song. I could imagine it being the soundtrack for a wrestling game of somesort, it has that adrenalin, must be played at max volume feel to it.
