Heath Ledger Posthumously Awarded Oscar for Best Supporting Actor

He did a really good job but I have a gut feeling he only got it because of all the hype surrounding the film with his death and all. It's a shame really. I'd like to see if he would have won had he still been alive.

With all due respect to the guy, I didn't think his performance was anything special. His nomination was definitely influenced by his death.

I didn't rate Heath Ledger as an actor, and the hype around his death was annoying. It makes me uncomfortable when people go into 'mourning' for somebody they didn't know personally. It's just attention seeking behaviour.

However, he was brilliant in Batman. He stole every scene he was in, and I'm sure he would have had a great chance of winning it even if he was still alive.

I don't think there's many people who didn't see it coming.

Meh, his performance as the Joker was amazing, no doubt about that. He would deifnitely have been nominated had he been alive, for sure.

He was up against Josh Brolin for Milk, Michael Shannon for Revolutionary Road, Philip Seymour Hoffman for Doubt and Robert Downey Jr. for Tropic Thunder. I think Hoffman would have won if Ledger hadn't died, merely because TDK isn't a movie that the academy likes to give acting awards to. I think, because of his death, it was made more 'acceptable' for them to give it to him. As much as i wanted him to win, it would have been nice to see a living actor get it. Buy hey, he was fantastic as the joker.
