The Rome 2012 Neolympics (Update: Hurt and Heal, Scavenger Hunt)

I am pleased to announce that I will be your host, both in person and as a city, for the Neolympics of this four-year interval, 2012. The games are set to open no later than the start of September and will close by the start of October. Until then, I call upon all Neoseekers of all nations to band together for the purpose of noble competition. Any and all ideas and help are welcome. Anyone who helps to organize the event before the games start in a manner that does not give them an unfair advantage may compete in the games.

Prizes:

No prizes are confirmed yet, but the individuals with the most gold medals and with the most overall medals will be the ones selected to win prizes.

Events:

Some events are posted, but we will still need for all of you to decide in what other events you wish to compete. Please post any suggestions that you have for events, and be sure to encourage others that speak up. Popular events are the ones we will be including in the games. Do make sure that the events are reasonable, however.

• King of the Hill: Competitors will start atop a platform over a pit of lava. Last person on the hill is the winner.

• Short Story: At a date and time agreed upon by the competitors, secret prompts will be PM'd to them. They will submit them within a certain amount of time, with penalties for late response. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation count.

• Poem: At a date and time agreed upon by the competitors, secret prompts and standards will be PM'd to them. They will submit them within a certain amount of time, with penalties for late responses. Rhythm, rhyme, and vocabulary will be the most important features.

Nations:

Like the real Olympics, all competitors will be representing certain areas when they compete. Unlike the real Olympics, we are not going to base that on currently existing, sovereign entities. Instead, it can be any nation on Earth that ever existed, politically or culturally. This would include unified places such England and Scotland (as opposed to the whole UK or Great Britain), subjugated places such as Tibet, non-political places such as Kurdistan, or places that exist only in memory and history such as the Soviet Union. Fictional places may not have teams.

The competitors themselves may decide which nation they represent. Nations can be represented, even if they only have one competitor. Every nation must have an Advisor to organize and keep their nation's competitors informed. The Advisor may also be a competitor.

Preliminary Ruleset:

1. Cheating will be harshly punished. Any incident of cheating in the games will result in the instant disqualification of the cheating competitor and their whole nation from all events that will occur or will have occurred, as well as the loss of any and all medals from that nation. The cheaters themselves will also be publicly listed. In other words: If you cheat, you put your whole nation at risk for losing every event, and you will earn a bad reputation. Don't do it.

2. Events will be scheduled on set dates that best suit the competitors. Once scheduled, the event may not be postponed or cancelled, unless a major technical difficulty occurs. If your situation changes, and you cannot make it to the scheduled time and date of an event, then you forfeit that event.

3. Nations that have too many competitors and threaten to dominate the games through sheer numbers may be resized, split into separate nations, have players moved to different nations, have a maximum number of competitors set for certain events, or be modified in any way to improve the balance of the nations in the games.

4. The Advisor of a nation must register and schedule their competitors for all events in which they wish to compete. Competitors who are not signed up properly for an event may not compete in an event.

5. Absolutely no flaming, trolling, or instigating of any kind is allowed by anyone involved in Neolympics. Competitors who commit these acts will be instantly disqualified from all events as a result, but their respective nations will not.

Or just make a notification dump. This does seem kinda kewl.

Neat. Good luck running this Rome. Question, though. I have to have a name for my team, and it absolutely cannot just be the name of a forum we are all regulars in? Before that's what a lot of people did and I'm just making sure this rule has absolutely been changed.

With P4U just coming out, I don't see harm in trying to run something for that? I have the game and currently getting into it, and don't know how many people across neo are. I've also put up ideas and propositions to a few forums within my categories such as Role-Play, Art Central, Writer's Lounge, and so on.

I dunno if I could pull someone to help organize a P4U event though. I'd have to tweet and pray, the game can be a bit limited to region specific areas because of the netplay issues. Not to mention the fact Europe hasn't gotten it yet...

Okay...maybe that's a bad idea...

What about the London 2012 game?

That's the real Olympics. It doesn't really have much to do with this except that it is the inspiration for the games.
