Stuck at random assassin ambush encounter. Can't beat them!!

(Spoilers: Don't know if it matters but I will mention some plot things that have happened. If you are at this "assassin ambush" part it shouldn't ruin anything.)

I'm a "Dalish Elf Rogue Level 8". I saved that Redcliffe Castle and after I did that whole "getting rid of the boy demon" there was a cut scene. It showed Loghain sending an elf assassin after me. Now when I try to go back to Denerim I stop halfway to find the ambush waiting for me.

I don't know what to do. There is this huge fire bomb that hits my whole group and I can't figure out where it is coming from or how to stop it. I find it hard to imagine that the game expects me to fight through this while that bomb is hitting us!! It kills everyone in one-two hits. Even if I used all my resources, we just end up dying in 10 seconds.

I sensed traps and thought that was where the fire was coming from. It wasn't so. It was just normal small bear traps and rope traps that I disabled while my party was dying. I went all the way to the far right and disabled all the traps and looked around but still can't figure out where the fire bombs are coming from.

Someone, please tell me how I am supposed to defeat this?!?! It doesn't seem possible. My whole party dies in 10 seconds. Is there a way to put it off and go back to when I'm more leveled up? I'm at a loss here :-(

Does it happen everytime? I only ask because sometimes I have re-done battles where the person does not open with the same attacks and I get a chance to try something different.

Do you have any fire resistance potions?
Perhaps lower the difficulty just for this fight?

Darkest Shadow - Thanks for your help. I went right after her and it helped loads. I died 10 times trying to figure out who the hell it was throwing those and just couldn't figure it out. You're right, it's not that hard. Once I started hitting her she didn't have a chance to throw those bombs and then the fight was over before I knew it.

I've had a couple more sticky fights. It's been a harder game than I thought it would be. But I'm starting to get the hang of it and I don't think I'll need to change the difficulty after all.

As for the sticky fights I know what you mean, Dragon Age's random difficulty spikes are absolutely ridiculous at times. I was originally doing a new run through for DA2 on hard difficulty, after clearing everywhere up to Orzammar on hard I finally got tired and switched back to casual.

I can only stand so much unnecessary difficulty. XD

I'm not a member of this forum, but I was looking at it to beat this part. On my second try I was in bad condition...I only had Morrigan and the Dog in my party, probably because I killed the old mage woman. Both the main character and Morrigan were dead. There were 4 assassins left with mostly full health. I killed them all using the dog and healing myself with the injury kits. Determination is the best way to beat this part haha.

Listening to all the NPCs is why they're there. You can pick up good info from them, and sometimes they're funny. Rushing through a game doesn't make you better at it.

Yes. For boss battles, bump the Health to 75 - 90%.
