This can be based on anything: Personality, usefulness, look, etc.

My Favorite hands down is Leliana. Not only does she help the party with her bardic skills, she's one of the only Romance option I've seen in games that I'd actually like in real life. She can be kind of Girly and prissy sometimes (i.e. the shoe conversation), but she's got a real edge to her too. I think, one of the things I like best about her is that I expected her to be a stodgy chantry type, and she really isn't. She has her own views about the maker and doesn't really care that they contradict the chantry. Also her dominant philosophy is to give people second chances and not to kill without need.
Oddly enough, Alistair's philosophy is much closer to what I thought Leliana's would be: Judgemental and self-righteous. Which is strange because he talks so much about not liking the chantry and yet agrees with them about most everything, and he's just as quick to condemn people as they are.


My least favorites are either Sten or Zevran.

As for Sten, he's just kind of an ass. I know that they meant to portray him as having a different philosophy, and maybe it's just because I haven't gotten very far in my dialogues with him, but he's so intolerant of anything that differs from what he believes that I just can't stand listening to him. I think the comment that cinched it for me was when he told my female Dalish that she couldn't be female because she was a warrior and women can't be warriors. He has very cut and dry ideas about everything and anything different is considered wrong and uncivilized. I hate that sort of ideology.

What about everyone else?

Morrigan. I love Claudia Black's voice work, I've picked her spells carefully for tactical uses, and cone of cold has saved my ass numerous times. My least favorite would have to be Zevran, he just seems to die too damn easily, and he sounds like stereotypical sleazy eurotrash.

Morrigan was in my party the entire first play through. I can't tell you how many times my party would die and her cold spells would save me. Also she laughed when I threatened a holy mother at the very beginning granting her a special place in my heart.

My favorite is my dog. He loves me no matter what. And he found me the best helm I've seen in the game so far. Good Boy!!

Morrigan is beautiful, but she is so snarky all the time that I had to put her away for a few levels... I took my dog in her place.

Sten annoys me because he doesn't seem to get that you have to give to get. So pretty much agreeing to do anything seems to lose influence. I didn't even bother to save him with my newer guys.

Lelianna is my favorite, I'm a mage so I need her lockpicking. Plus she's the best romance option by far. I also like Wynne since I need a healer, and her conversations with Allister and Oghren are hilarious.

I also like Gizmo, my mabri. But he doesn't fit my playstyle, so I don't use him much.

I have to say that Sten is just ticking me off, but I figure I'd save him just to let him atone. Now I'm wishing I hadn't, but one little scene was entirely worth it where he has a growling match with my Mabari, Max. I just watched of course, since it was amusing to watch a grown man growling at a giant dog that's as smart as a tax collector.

I also like Morrigan. Something about her, is funny. All those comments just amuse me terribly. Though, I find her mother even funnier. To quote my favorite of her sayings 'Be always vigilant... Or was it oblivious? I can never remember.' I thought I was going to have a coughing fit I was laughing so much.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Alistair so far. Funny guy, but something just seems off. He reminds me a lot of Atton from KOTORII, mixed with Carth from KOTOR. Of course since the makers of this game made those... It's pretty likely they put some of his characteristics into the making of Alistair.

Actually BioWare didn't make KOTOR II, that was Obsidian. Anyway, the analogy is spot on, just throw a little bit of Bastilla's self-righteousness and you've got it.
To me he seems whiny. He also has a tendency to forget that we're trying to fight the Blight and need all the help we can get. I always get annoyed when he disapproves of bringing Zevran.

Where can I find this Lelianna, bearing in mind I'm a City Elf.

Lelianna is my fav by far i like her outlook on life

and after i decker her out in nice rogue armor gave her 2 daggers whit 2 sockets each put some nice gems in she basicaly toke over and

when the screen whit info of her shows up it says shes doing 40% of all group damage hehe

and i keep morrigan around for healing plus her fire or ice weapon spell gives Lelianna even more damage output

Ah, my bad on that. I haven't played it in a long time, mostly because the disc I have is getting a little tempermental and I can't find a decent cleaner for it. And yeah, I forgot about Bastilla, and you're right.

Funny thing, on my first playthrough I didn't get Lelianna because it wouldn't let me in the bar. The door wouldn't show up on selectable things to interact with. I like her though, she's got a good view on things in general.
