I'm new to the server admin community, so please be kind.
I'm planning a server upgrade and would like to set up a rather unique scenario, accoring to my searches looking for helpful information. I would like to build 2 new servers (simple towers with Intel Xeon, SBS 2011, approx. 500GB total data storage) and set up one as our standard office primary, while locating the secondary at my home. I'm hoping to accommoplish the secondary server being alway up-to-date, as a mirror image of my primary. I would like to make them communicate, so that the secondary (at my house), is an exact replica of the primary at all times, or at least at set intervals. This way, if the primary goes down (or has to be taken down) for an extended period of time, I can bring my secondary server into the office, plug it in, and the network is up and running instantly (with no data missing). Our office has a dual T1 4.5MB circuit, while my home only has a cable (so-called 6MB) broadband connection.
Is this scenario possible with standard harware/software? And, can this be achieved through VPN (or other means) with the connection types/speeds listed above or would it require a direct circuit be installed to my home?
